Just to reiterate what a previous posted said....You are under no obligation to purchase a boat or car on eBay if after the auction ends you go to see the vehicle and it is not in the condition advertised. So it's not as risky as it seems. I bought my truck on eBay and it was in even better condition than it looked in the auction.

...Gary see what I mean about value? That boat up here is about $4000-5000. Good on ya to get it.
Thats the kind of value I'm going to be after.....jees, maybe I'll just put my budget purchase number out into the forum and see who comes up with the best boat for it? good idea or not?

I did have to put a new lower on the engine and new transom.
All together i still have less than 3k in it.
I found the same exact boat on Iboats classifieds,the guy is asking 12k for it.But it has a newer engine and newer trailer.
I still think i could get 5 to 6k if i sold it now..
There are some good deals on Ebay but be careful..
Mine was only an hour away so it was an easy deal...

Well i have bought and sold boats on e-bay and this last time was a nightmare.The boat was listed with pictures and asking certain questions about paint job and the like he assured me it was a good deal.
Well i sent a 500 dposit and told him to hold it till the weekend
Needless to say when i got down to pick up the boat it wasnt in the condition he said ,pictures can lie
He said he had othe rpeople intrested and i told him to just give me the deposit back less price he paid to run the ad.
Well 2 months later no deposit and i have a claim in small clains court in ct with him .You think he will show up dont think so hes alittle 20 year old punk.
So dont send deposits is my lesson

bought my first/current boat on ebay. transaction turned out OK, albeit with a couple of hiccups. The boat is running great and lots of fun and I did use a credit card via Pay Pal for my own protection. 1991 Glasstream OMC 4.3 bowrider
