Grandson and I watching Alaska last frontier which has nothing to do with anything. We just counted 24 days to TB launch a 3-4 day outing... 4-11-12. See you all out there!:)

I may be out there but it would probably be on your last day. I'll see how the schedule works out.

Hope to see you out there. What do you know about the TB RV park? I have friends that are planning to meet us with their 5th wheel in May or June and we will all spend a few days out there. Can't tow our boat and the travel trailer, so we'll stay in the boat!

The dry camping area, which is just past the ranger station when you come down the road, would be OK to stay in temp-wise in May or early June depending on the weather pattern. We used to houseboat on the first full week of June every year and I've seen temps range from the 80's as a high to over 100. The dry camping area itself is really nice. Big mature trees for shade and decent privacy.
The full hook-up spots are in the trailer village where trailers (mobile homes) have been removed and not replaced. There is pretty much no shade whatsoever except what your awnings provide. If the weather is hot just leave the ac on all day and come home to a nice cool place to relax.
They do tend to book up especially if you're planning on going around Memorial Weekend. They can make reservations online here
Do you have a plan as to what area of the lake you'll head to from the ramp?

I'm going to be taking the kids out to Mead/Mohave the first week of April, a bit earlier than mzahn. If going to Mead, we will be heading over to Temple Bar to see what the fuss is all about :D

What are the must see things up at Tbar? I was thinking of heading east up into the Gregg basin along with the area around Tbar. We will be camping for several days, any suggestions on nice sandy, protected coves, or areas in general to find that type of cove. (I could probably read through 30 pages of this thread to get the info, but too lazy...)

The fuss is apparent straight out of the Marina. The Temple is awesome! For hanging/camping Mushroom Reef and Sandy Point. 12V has his hangout in Hualapai too.

Indeed Mushroom right at this elevation is at it's finest. Left out of the marina about 4 miles down the lake on the left side. Mushroom Reef is the island, but beach on the peninsula to the left right before that is the place. We call it Parrothead Bay. There was a sign there once that someone put up with that name on it.

Agree, the Peninsula. Expect some company, as it is a supreme location. But very cool, reasonably well protected and the "Campanile" as the little bay is called, is perfect for water sports even when the rest of the lake is a little sloppy.

Edit: Ahhhh, Parrothead Bay = The Campanile . . . Got it. Carry on :)

i don't think that part of the lake has the best memory for jil and i. (thats where i blew the last alpha drive in the 230. thats where the boys from temple came and towed us back to temple.)

the lake was glassed off and 6 am. up on plane at 30 mph one minuet and then the dreaded bang-dead in the water.

still looking to come down my own self. the time frame you guys are talking about would be in my window as well.
would be neat if we could have a day were we could get together.

has been my experience to be in the north by the first week in june as temps get over 100. will say that it still cools off at night to sleep well on the lake though.

I need to locate a beach also for the G-Kids...I will look this Parrot Headed Mushroomed like place. It would be fun if we could all (and QC and anyone else that I missed) get together for even an hour! I'll post it up to you as a PM a few days before we go with a plan. I am going to take the laptop this time as I couldn't believe the great cell service that I had last time.

I'm thinking I might do a twist on the geo-cache thing and leave some clues.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm leaving our schedule open as I have the week off work and will pick the best 3-4 days, depends on what the weather is like.

I agree, it would be cool to meet up if anyone is out there. I owe 12V a cold one for the grand prize he won a couple weeks ago on the guessing game. I'll be in a 18' tan/blue aluminum I/O with Crestliner plastered down the side.

jj !!! What? Left out? Heck, you started this thread!
This is the first I've seen of this plan of possibly getting together as well, so don't feel left out. I can't help but feel your passion for Mead, and I know you spend a lot of time on the lake - more than most of us.
Like Jax has said ^^ we may read posts daily, weekly or even monthly and sometimes respond and sometimes not. Everyone has different things going on. I get on here when time allows. When I hear a current event about Mead I try to post as well, as in the following post, but I'm not intentionally leaving anyone out.
I thought telling your Lake Mead stories on here was sharing stories together ;)

Looking forward to hopefully being in the right place at the right time to make it. I'm taking my props into the shop as soon as I can get to Long Beach but that may not be for a couple of weeks, then they will have them for a few weeks. I could always use the spares, but they don't run as well.

I still have baseboard to put in the trailer so maybe I can make that weekend coincide.

... definitely looking forward to that beer Dan!

It will be great to meet out there someday. You're the one that got us all together here!:)
