The wives goofed around all morning and got into bloody marys and mimosas, so when we headed out Sat afternoon the wives were all together in one trailer having a great time, so we did the guy thing that day :)

Now you have me thinking about my plan for Saturday....go to the lake or just go to Death Valley, which is closer. :D

Post today from NWS: Today's high in Death Valley, California was 119 degrees, which broke the old daily record of 118 degrees set in 2001. In Las Vegas, the high temperature at McCarran Airport reached 103 degrees, one degree shy of the record high for the date last set in 2002.

Ah yes, but it's a dryyy heat :D (Kind of like the inside of a pizza oven ) Tomorrow is supposed to be 107 in Vegas, 111 at Tbar, 119 Death Valley. I remember driving back from the lake to Phoenix when I was in college, no AC in the van, and it was so hot it felt better with the windows rolled up! Windows rolled down was like a convection oven...

What's the hottest you guys have seen? My truck was reading the outside temp of 127* coming back from Lake Havasu years ago. (The truck's thermostatic waterpump driven radiator fan was engaging,, driving down the interstate at 75! Never seen that happen before, or since.)

12v, that toon reminds me of a toon our neighbors had in Wisconsin, it was build from a bunch of 55 gallon drums welded together. Homegrown and built to have fun!

Yep warm temps today. I get to work and go out to my truck 30 minutes later and see a puddle up front. Got a finger in it and smelled, yep...coolant. I procured a water-pump and pulled truck into the NON-SWAMP COOLED warehouse at 3:00 to utilize the shade. Fortunately I carry coolant, tools, hoses a belt and other items for this reason. With answering phone calls and washing hands several times to send emails, I was able to get out of there by 5:15. Second water pump job in 222,000 miles. I saw more of the temp gauge than the road on the way home. :D

Summer in the desert is here, Be prepared out there!

Swapping a water pump in 100* temps, 3:00 in the afternoon, UGH!

There is a bright side to it though, better today than on Saturday heading out to the lake. Hope you guys have a good trip!

I think the hottest temp I have ever been in was either at Havasu, Parker Strip or Mohave. I only know the temp at Havasu was about 125 sometime in the 90's when I was there. Parker strip was regularly 118 +- and Mohave at Katherine Landing was around 118-120 late in the afternoon when I was walking to my truck IN THE 3rd PARKING LOT

118 can be experienced regularly in the summer months along the river. I like the heat, but the humidity can make it tough when it gets up there during the monsoon months. When that happens we take our friend's pontoon boat out in the middle of the lake and float between the tunes on our life jackets diaper-style sipping cold ones to escape it.

Yep, my first thought of the matter. It will be a good day even if I have boat problems.

My son's buddy built this toon for one of them Laughlin runs a couple of years ago...he's a good man and I'm sure that he abstained, being under age at the time...

Spiral duct toon-bar. Belly up.

It didn't take long for a few going out to have a gathering...

Was out on the lake yesterday on a friends boat. It's kind of nice to just kick back, be a passagenger and not have to worry about anything or anyone.

Ahhh yes, where everyone hangs out when they're not going to go further into the unknown from Boulder Basin :)

The first cove I ever stayed in houseboating was a tiny no-name cove on that end of the Narrows, just inside and across from Flamingo cove, on wishing Well side. We escaped the winds after we launched from Calville. They really should have made us stay at the dock for the night. We got there at dusk and the rest of the week was awesome! We stayed in Secret Cove for 2 nights next and made our way to the Campanile after that. Secret Cove was the best. There was a white sandy peninsula we pulled the HB onto the back side of with an awesome view of the Virgin Basin, all the way up Overton Arm as far as the eye could see.

Boulder Harbor is a very decent launch and load location. Nice grade for launching.

Some of the people doing the same there today were very inconsiderate. Why do people tie off at the dock in the way of load/launch while their trailer is retrieved? I wouldn't have needed to load near the dock if there wasn't such a cross wind.

Sorta why I love Temple Bar.

The only legit answer is the same person who handles the trailer also handles the boat. Might as well be loading on alone.

3 couples and a cute golden retriever.

If you are the only one who can drive a boat and back a trailer, tie off at the end of the dock, not 50' from the shoreline or am I expecting too much from (some) of the younger guys? :D

Yeah, I definitely didn't say that I support this stupidity. Someone has to be able to help!

They don't know any better or they are inconsiderate, I guess? I launch/load solo most of the time and if it's busy always tie off at the top of the "T" so I don't get in others way. 99% of people do the same, but there's always the 1% that tie things up. You'll see all sorts of weird inconsiderate behavior out there and I've learned to expect it, so it doesn't pizz me off...

Yep, I shouldn't let it bother me. I have a hard time loading this thing in the wind. I want a smaller boat. It was a good day.
