Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada

Yesterday: US National Weather Service Las Vegas Nevada
The temperature just after 4 PM at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas was 112?F. This reading breaks the record for 6/8 (old record was 111?F from 1955). A new record was also set today in Death Valley, CA where the temperature reached 126?F (the old record was 121?F also from 1955).

It was 114 on the lake, but it was perfect under the shade sitting in the water. The water was perfect.

Highest recorded temperature @ Death Valley, CA is 134 F (<- just a side note, I know 12v's figure was record of the day)
Also the hottest recorded temperature to my knowledge, Death Valley has replaced Libya as the hottest place on earth. Friggin nuts! :D

Lake was beautiful this weekend, got a little windy Sat. afternoon, and all day Sunday in certain areas, no big deal. I hate returning to reality, I just wanna be on the water everyday.. Got some nice sun this weekend at least, think I've just about got rid of that darn farmer's tan :)

We didn't get the wind until after sunset. There were some good gusts but we were already off the lake. I'm working on that farmer's tan too!

Where is that? How have I not seen this? The pics look great.

Thanks LVC. A great time!

Hualapai is right at the entrance, or south end of Gregg Basin. When you come around the corner and can see Sandy Point, look off to your right, you're there.

The island is actually called Channel Island, I just refer to the general area as Hualapai since the beach is mostly on the Hualapai Bay side of the island:

The beach is known to be crowded mostly from the Meadview boaters that put in at South Cove, but since there's no fuel now in Meadview boats are few. We talked to some and there's no solution to the fuel issue in the immediate future, so keep that in mind if you plan on launching at South Cove. For now, Temple Bar is the only game in town past the Narrows for fuel.

Wow that's a long haul in my Cabin cruiser from Callville. took me and hour and twenty minutes to get to temple Bar once last year. I tried towing her to temple bar and just beat the crap out of her...and then couldn't launch....not doing it again. Hopefully I can find a way to get up there sometime, looks amazing...and tired of Sandy Cove partiers.....Going to try swallow bay this weekend.
