Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada

I have never heard of dannys...

I take my boat to Danny's. I bought my Chaparral new from Cal's, when they went under Chaparral sent me to Danny for any warranty work.
One time my trim unit went out and was stuck down, wouldn't go up. I could get it on the trailer but I wouldn't have been able to pull it out of the water. I called Danny and he came down to hemmingway and took a look. It was late Friday so he showed me how to disconnect the ram arms so I could lift the drive up by hand and tie it off for the ride home and till I could get it to the shop Monday.

Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada

Thanks for all the input guys.

I'm well aware of Trailer Tech, bought stuff from them before but I doubt they'll have adjustable bunk brackets. Same with A-1...not sure what their experience is with boat bunks. The boat sits OK on the chine bunks but I would like to have the keel supported as well. Might take the advice of just sawzalling the brackets that are welded on now and getting the new ones bolted on. I saw West Marine sells them so it shouldn't be too hard I suppose.

Jjacobs the boat is an 18 foot open bow runabout. Dunked her the minute we got back to town for her maiden voyage. It was a bit choppy so we didn't stay too long. Took my kids out yesterday and it was so much nicer. PM me your address and when you're available to bring her over. I'm off on Friday and Saturday. My dad actually lives off of Nellis and Charleston.

Depending on how the brackets are welded onto the trailer, you might be able to leave them on and bolt adjustable brackets to the welded brackets. Probably need to drill a couple more holes in the welded brackets to match up with Ushaped adjustable brackets, but it would be easier than sawzalling off the brackets. (I know this would work on my trailer, not sure of yours.)

Something like this, drill a couple holes and bolt it onto the existing brackets.

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. The higher bunk height will clear the bunk mount and drilling a couple holes is certainly much easier then cutting the brackets off all together. Thanks for the idea.

:clap2:..and if you get the anodized ones like the pic you won't even need to paint unless you want to match the trailer.

Going out Saturday, looks like calm wind and not to hot. Next weekend is being forecast as a hundred and unbelievable.

I don't think I've ever seen water more than 20' deep anywhere I have been in Fl....and if your on the inter costal around here, if you get out of the channel just about anywhere except an inlet, your aground!

Spent the morning at the DMV switching the reg on the trailer then to the NDOW to register the boat. New stickers on, new brakes on the truck and all ready for a fun day on the water with the wife. If any of you see us out there say hello. White Baja with teal, yellow, and purple striping and teal Bimini.

We cruised around for a bit then anchored off at the entrance to sandy. Had a fun day all the way up till I was trying to pull my anchor up and fell overboard and lost my Oakley's. Oh and the dogs were hating the boat ride so that's the last time I take them. But otherwise had a blast.

I'm planning on heading out on the 4th also. so it sounds like everyone is fond of Sandy. Who will all be going out on the 4th? maybe we can all get together at Sandy, if its big enough (never been there)

We'll certainly be going out on the weekend of the 4th. Sandy is a pretty big cove, but it is a popular spot so it does fill up rather quickly.

Head towards the Narrows from Callville about 1.5 miles east of Callville, north side of the lake. You can't miss it w/ all the boats there

LOL,, I have a buddy we nicknamed 'anchors away' . He had a habit of tossing his anchor in unattached then had to dive after it. People often thought he fell in...and I've lost plenty of nice glasses in that lake. I used to wear crokies and I don't know why I stopped? Too bad about the dogs. They're a lot of fun if they like the water, but if they don't it's a pain alright.

We'll be on the lake all week starting Saturday. When we head over that way we'll be sure to cruise Sandy. It will be this Sunday or during the week since Temple Bar Days is on the 4th and we're bbqing on the beach the day after. EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT INDEPENDENCE DAY :usa2:

Here is a map that shows Sandy Cove in relation to Calville and the beginning of the narrows, like Skiya posted.

Sandy Cove.jpg

It's 'heavily populated' especially on weekends because it's one of, if not THE longest stretch of nice, semi-remote sandy beach in all of Boulder Basin. It's a main destination for many out of Calville, and because it's so close to the narrows it's a great home base to explore the narrows and ski Virgin Basin.

Con's include heavy traffic, big wakes breaking on the beach from boats that don't realize it's a wakeless area, 3000w boom-boom stereo's (unless you like loud music, of course ;)) and late night/all night parties. To some, most of these are pro's to the area so it just depends on what you're looking for.
