So after being a long time reader on this forum and after following many of your projects finally registered and now showing the first of one of two builds i,m starting this winter.
I.m busy with a friends 2001 Campion 535 Allante vri with a Mercruiser 3.0lx 135 hp four cylinder.
Little history on this project first:
My previous employer took this boat and trailer in as a trade in on a motorhome, it was abandoned in the marina for two years with a torn up cover on it and was submerged for about 2/3 almost up to the rubrail.
It was then put back on the trailer and stored on the hard for a while.
After my previous boss took the boat as a trade in i hooked up my buddy who was looking for a small family boat project to go boating.
Whe first started with disassembling everything cos everything ws beyond dirty. Got the engine out wich i,ll tell you later about, and then stripped out everything till the bare bones.
Convinced my buddy to pull the deck cause i knew that everything was rotten and water logged from the rubrail down.
We are currently busy with ripping out the partially rotten floor and tons and tons of foam, kind of amazes me everytime how much junk comes out of a boat this size!. Already took me 2 trips to the landfill and still not done.
Onething that really stumps me is that with how minimal extra effort Campion could have really made this a better quality boat, really corners where cut everywhere....ridiculously long screws, no back plated hardware, resin starved fiberglass, partially glassed stringers and the list goes on.
We plan to build it back up from the hull up using quality materials everwhere and make it look like new hopefully.
Still a long way to go as i,m helping him while being busy with my other project my 1994 Wellcraft 210 eclipse wich i,ll be giving the same treatment.
I,m going to start a new topic about my own boat later on.
Will be trying to upload photos as i figure out how to do it, not very handy with these kind of things
