more worms! but they were obvious and had planned on addressing
http://

and I'm not referring to the distortion of the upper deck starboard side - only. Couldn't get it all out as I left the original wood in there where remote mounts and support for console along that edge. Things I no care about - seem to catch more fish of the starboard side lol
And I'm not referring to my POC trailer either!:facepalm: A new axle is in the works but not a real concern - 25mph for two miles and I'm at a ramp that opens up into the single most miles of navigable water in the US.

I had some separation between the wood and hull - only had glass and one screw near the middle. Guessing the stress of pounding waves at speed...... Used 3/32 ss and countersunk. Glass Guy said he'd come by next week and glass it. Took cutting wheel and made it to where we can push wet cloth behind it 1/4 to 3/8" - just a best guess, am sure it varies
Am doing the same to port side

Just saved dollars ! ;)
just for giggles because I'm not planning on ever doing this for hire; what would this had cost me for labor? estimate only

And the separation between wood and tops of gunwales was primarily started where the PVC on trailer is to about the PVC rod holder. But I cut it all and bolted every six inches on both P&S. Am thinking of adding cardboard tubes inside. Any thoughts?

Idk , maybe an extra grand .. Not sure what the going rate is 60 , 70 bucks an hour maybe ..
Was that strip of wood on there from the factory or did you add that ? Kinda different from what I have seen ..
I guess at this point I would try to loosen it up a bit and wedge it open ... squish as much pb in there as best you can then take the wedges out and squeeze it back together ... Clean up the extra pb and glass the 2 pieces together ... Gunna need some paint to make it presentable if it matters ..

yea... at least another grand; and that's why I wouldn't do this for hire, too slow to make a living lol. Can no longer sustain working for very long - but much of it is looking at something a thousand different ways, and the "being" with what I think I want until "I" am OK with it. The gusset(s), how much to raise deck and at what angle, plumbing, "your" raised bilge pocket suggestion, etc etc etc. All of these things have required considerable amounts of consideration.

Factory installed!! and here's the factory.... 7 years ago
http://

I wanted 4" more freeboard aft for motor weight and zero at the bow. Presentable does matter and it will be painted - Glass Guy says he knows where to but auto paint for savagely reduced price, was mixed wrong color(s) and cannot be sold as new.
When I mentioned distortion, it isn't that didn't bother me some.... it's that I'm OK with it now, doesn't affect anything. However, these are only to show some of what I was dealing with back then

additionally, lowered trailer 2" and lowered the axle 3"

and this was before she hit the water for Sea Trials lol

Sooooo, looks do somewhat matter to me; but after all, it's only a swamp boat
imho, the value is found in that "I" built it; not something bought off a lot

Just in case...best method to align the gunwales is to use PB and glue some cleats to the underside of one gunwale letting em stick out about 3" and then set the other on top of em with big globs of PB. The seam will line up nicely and be reinforced by the cleats. Hope that makes sense?? You'll be fishin in no Time!!!

hahaaa "makes sense" lol, not much does!! How's that saying go, couldn't pour p*** out of a boot with the instructions on the bottom  That's me sometimes lol.
Really not looking to repost an old build, too much time to go through files and find old pics and it's already done. But it bears on this and it's raining, always..... and forever! lol

This is what i did originally. Bolted the wood in, pushed out, braced and glassed over. Then went back and tabbed the deck.

http://

That's the upper deck is split in two laying upside down - left of the bow.

Never mind how much I had to narrow that $200 trailer; notice the shape of the hull the top deck came off of. Straightening out molded fiberglass is something I never want to do again

Used my chainsaw to cut it up, maybe it found its way into the Seacast I used? With the cap on, there aren't many options for repair. I do like that idea WOG, that's some along the line of what I meant by using towel tubes inside

just rambling about the future..... I have another echocardiogram Thursday and am paranoid!! lol - that my doctor is in cahoots with my employer
My last echo in December showed vast improvement, but I'm not feeling it. My fear is that he'll say I'm ready for work; and I KNOW that I'm not.
This little project has taken all I can give; of course, I've treated every little thing as if it were a project of its own, and neededly so.

It isn't Thursday yet and I won't get the results until next week. So why worry?

all I could get done....
http://

93* in the shade and +70% humidity, fan blowing directly on me. Cut out to remove plumbing and nozzles. Thinking I'll use thread locker on clamps or PB? Don't want 'em coming loose.
Took it down to glass 4" all the way around and sanded the upper. Thinking I'll repair thhe three floor pieces and then 24oz over - below black line will be offset to allow drainage from port side bow area aft.

Primer, paint (w/hardener?) or gelcoat? Doesn't have to be pretty, just watertight.

Speaking of paint, those rims are my first galvanized rims; paint or not - don't care what they look like as long as no rust. Like they're going to
And the drain for deck in transom; should I use hardener in bottom paint up in the hole for plug wear? It's raw glass for a 3/8" more or less to the fiberglass pipe. Goes for the livewell inlet also, just no plug. Thanks a mucho!!

Gell is more durable but more costly ..
Unless your planning on painting the trailer No real reason to paint the rims .. Unless ya just want too ..:joyous:
Bottom paint enamel ? If so then yes on the hardener ... No reason not to paint into the drain hole ..

"planning" ? Please refrain from cussing me  It's OK if I cuss me lol, had not planned on doing what's been done! But ya see... now that you've mentioned it, I do need make a thorough investigation of the trailer. I know port side bunk needs replacing and am certain there will be other issues - she won't leave the driveway until..... And it won't be repainted; maybe build a new one? this coming winter??

Way back when, you said it looked like I had my work cut out for me; I never imagined, never planned on it being so much. wow! If this had been a welding job, it wouldn't have been much for me. For those with glass and wood experience, maybe this isn't so much? or I'm just aging :)
Honestly, it's mostly all of this "planning" and figuring out that's killing me timewise - the "execution of" doesn't take that long - which is why "planning" is a cuss word!!

Glass Guy only made the first piece of csm for the inner skin and rolled out port side of inner skin. Except for that and the corners of same, all the rest of glass work is mine.
Perhaps I should proofread more objectively before posting to see how it sounds; because this is not entirely accurate and it does matter to me. True "all of the work is mine"; but the blow by blow on the inner skin - I set it all up. Precut all the cloth and laid it all out in organized fashion.

He was working the resin and I placed 'em in. Then "we" wet it all out; he was on the port and I starboard. "We" rolled it all out and I had him work the bottom chines. "We" switched sides often towards the end - going back over each other's work. Team effort really pays off - no drips, runs, or errors (air)!! Johnny Bench would be proud.

and as far as giving credit where due.... I had a hard time getting the cap to lay like I wanted. On the final 24oz, Glass Guy drove up just as I was working those corners. I was tired and frustrated a bit; he took over and finished that out. Thanks Glass Guy...
Took me all of last week to make two little pieces for gunwales, not kidding lol. Maybe have something to show later today?

no pride here, best i could do under the circumstance
http://

just wasn't feeling up to it.... Anyhow... used 3/4 board from old transom reinforcement already has 3/16" glass on inside and will all be glassed over again after I dress it. The yellow mark shows where I used 24oz strands to fill gap - they only run lengthwise but should hold; probably 30 of them in there
JS- the top 2" had/has to be ground/sanded down for the cap to fit. And I have to make additional pieces on both P&S sides of the transom for deck that will tie into those; open in the middle.
Amazingly enough!!! lol My transom now measures just shy of 21" - which, to me, is good news :) It makes for more meat between top motor mount bolt holes and the top of the transom. My wannabe jack plate eliminates any concern
In other news, my POC table is still hanging in there. It got wet a time or two, but usually put it away... pffffffft whatever!

only posting cos I can't have ya'll thinking whatever it is ya think when I don't!!
http://

Been dealing with other problems and not just about health... Constructive imagination while working on my transom helps all around. The cap isn't ready, just having to make it up as I go. THAT has been for this project in its entirety. Hope the Bass are biting in August!!

Port side gunwale extensions didn't have as much delam, just redoing it all

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - for anyone doing a transom, apparently mine shrunk an 1/8th of an inch in width. I've had to cut the cap to take it out along starboard side of splashwell. Maybe should've braced between gunwales?

Wasn't a big deal because the cap was cut there before back when I resized it for this hull - seem to remember 18" taken out then, more in the bow and beam.
Piece by piece lol, in 6hrs, cutting the mask off of transom inner and outer, set that up there, take a picture and post, was all I could do
