Re: Can we see something in each other besides enemy?

I always have some kind of project going.... Usually when I finish it up, dang if something else don't need my attention.....

<Just recently kinda finished my truck...again...sort of....black primer is a definate improvement...
Currently, hanging and finishing drywall... New carpet soon, and some kinda floor for the entryway (wood, tile, i dunno) which i have'nt decided on yet... Sink and counter-top... uggggh!... Oh.. and i have to build a cabnet for the counter..... (just shoot me now)

My new habit is riding the bike about 30 miles a week... Been doing that since Febuary... Good habit, if i do say so myself....

I was looking at one of those for repainting my outdrive. I have the thing all torn apart and I am putting all new bearings and a better gimbal ring and what not in there and I was wondering if I would get a better job with one of those spray rigs than I could do with a a can.

Not only that woodrat, you can use better paint than you can get in a rattlecan.

I sanded my drive, washed it in vinegar, sprayed it with zinc chromate, oversprayed it with an automotive catalytic epoxy primer then sprayed it with and automotive catalytic acrylic enamal. Can't even come close with a rattlecan.

Have managed to get on the katy trail a couple of times this summer, hope to get there later on this month if the fall colors are any good will take my easel and try to get in some plein air painting.

http://www.bikekatytrail.com/

Have this 69 Camaro been working on it for years seems to be a never ending job, maybe get it done next, possibly the year after. Who knows when? Don’t get me started on this sorry axx boat that thing needs some major work; guess I will tear it apart this winter.

Some how I manage to get to the gym three or four times a week when im in town, spend about two hours strength training as well a another hour on cardio.

I have lots of small projects on (most of which the wife is blissfully ignorant of) from reconditioning old rudes to fixen up old bikes and coming up with uses for junk that others would have thrown away!

I've always got something going on. I'd be doing more if I had more money though.

I'm restoring an old boat and motor to operating condition right now. Just doing what I can as funds/weather become available. I hope to have it finished by the end of next spring. I'm enjoying doing it though and I have another boat so it's no rush. This will be an upgrade over my other boat though.

There's a few things I'd like to do. I want to restore a few more boats. An antique fiberglass bowrider and maybe an old aluminum larson. I'd like to build an old dual cockpit cruiser out of wood one day too. You know, the ones with the pretty wood finish and the little chrome flagpole on the stern with an American flag on it. I'd like to have a woodworking shop and rebuild antique outboards. I just love things that you can see the craftsmanship it. Things that we're proud of.

Enemy is a pretty strong word.Let's just say I don't champion everyones viewpoints.

Between fishing, golfing ,guitar playing, and slot car racing,I find I still have time to express political viewpoints and assist in a few outboard repair questions. That is when I'm not tiling floors, refurbishing woodwork, mowing the lawn, washing clothes ,servicing 4 vehicles ,or cleaning the house.8)

Re: Can we see something in each other besides enemy?

ob, you sound almost as busy as me... it's been an interesting summer.......

Wife got a new job 75 miles North of here and walked into a State audit of the Nursing home... she's no help as she is up to her A** in fixing the problems found, so...

I handled the sale of our house in Portland... long distance through E-mail and phone.

We looked at 53 properties where the wife is working and finally found one... two months ago, it has yet to close as the mortgage company is in Portland and has no resources in that area. They sent an engineer to look at the home, he found problems... I fixed them, he hasn't sent the report back that it's ok with him yet.

House in Portland was a rental, so if we don't want to pay 25% of the profit to the IRS, we have to do a "1031 property exchange".... back to the books.

Also back to looking for an investment property... found one, did the research on it... made offer...pending.

Did I mention the wife is no help?

In the midst of all this, I have a biz to run and shut down.

Just finished my last major contract, tearing the siding off a house and replacing, and a few little odds and ends I can do from home.

Home... we were just in the middle of a new roof on the house, not just the shingles, Oh no... a whole new roof, rafters on up... inclusive. Plus I still have two bathrooms to remodel, a glass enclosed deck (10x32) to rebuild, and a boat I’ve torn the floor out of and have to glass back in before I can move it to our new (if it ever closes) digs on Tenmile Lake.... I feel like a one legged man in a but kicking contest.

However, I find I still have time to give the ignorant Liberals around here a hard time... That’s my hobby.

Oh... three cats, one dog, and I have to keep house for myself. 8)

Did I fail to mention the 12x20 shop I built for my wood working tools this last spring?... Comp roof, T1-11 siding, 3/4 plywood floor on 12" center joists.

Oh well, new digs has a 40x30 shop/garage with a 12x30 insulated office... all for me, and it's wired 220. 8)

Futures so bright, I gotta wear shades.......

Did a siding and soffet restoration project on the house here about 7 years ago.My brother in Houston did his 2 years ago with hardy plank.I'm wishing I had used hardy plank now,but I don't recall it being around then.Always battling those damn wood ants that fly out of the mesquite woods and try to start new colonies every spring.I wish I had more lot space here to build a shop or another garage.A man just never has enough garage space.Sounds like you built a nice one.

Re: Can we see something in each other besides enemy?

The 30x40 came with the new place, but the wife wants me to tear the front deck off the new house and build an attached 1 car garage with a car port beside it.... I told her I was going to get a fishing license for the first time in 5 years, fish at least once a week, and I'd work her plans in where I could 8)

Already have 5 contracts in my new location... they will just have to wait.

I am busy....maybe not as busy as crunch and ob8)

I go to school full-time and work full-time. I get up a 6 and go to class until 1 or so, then come home change and go to work till 10. Then I do schoolwork for a bit and go to bed. I lurk around here while I break from studying. Its not as bad as it was, since for a while i was working 3rd shift.:$ It will be worth it though, when I get that degree......... I hope.

Sounds like you're as busy as you can be Pony with that schedule. My daughter is going to school full time and working part time while my son works full time and is going to school part time to complete his masters. You're not giving yourself the credit you're due.And , it will be worth it one day soon.I'm certain of that.Us older dogs try to keep plugging along with projects so we can remind ourselves we can still bark or maybe just to leave a mark. What ever the case,it'll be your world soon.Embrace it.It was a hard time coming.

The WWW brings out a whole new personality in people.

We as a society are becoming more and more reclusive. Why not? Many time crooks praying on us with no fear of repraisal, not to mention electronics turning us into veggies. Especially children.

Plus, the internet brings forth a degre of anonimity that enboldens people. If you look at anyone long enough (posts) you see the personality. I am wide open, in that respect.

Others, may be the same, dance around (diff. names), or come and go. Still, the real personaility usually comes through.

Ob, what degrees are they going for? A masters is certainly a noteworthy accomplishment in any field.

Currently I am an Architecture major. I have a Minor in Art History, and am in the process of getting one in Mediterranean Studies. Senior year right now.........but I don't see myslef graduating for a couple years yet 8)

My son currently has a bachelors in medical technology with three years service going after his masters and eventually his phd. Daughter is following in her moms footsteps and majoring in financial accounting. She is in her third year Texas A&M CC..We're real pround of both.

Architecture sound like a promising career.
