still looking at the options of maybe some kind of trim tabs both on the front and rear... or a foil of sorts on the front and tabs on the rear. <br /><br />
.. seems as though i'm going to find my lightweight trials driver sooner than I expected hey amd I saw you visited my chat the other day.. sorry I left it on when I went out fishing.<br /><br />I'm considering a new line of redneck attachments for it... cant stand the thought of it being finished already ... was out playing with it and the motor tonight... considering some chine type add ons to the front bottom so when I take off the nose wont dig in when I move the weight up towards the front. <br /><br />I have this on the hood of my lil old truck.. thinking it would rest better on the nose of canoe..<br />
somewhere between 10 and 20 depending on weight. I had an 18 hp on a 10'flat bottom boat I had when I was young. It was waayyyyyy less stable than a comparable jon boat. When I found the boat, there was about a 2 1/2 ft by 4 ft section cut out of the bottom. The guy cut it up for a sign he wanted to make. I had no idea how to repair it, but I bought a gallon of resin and some thin mat and went to work. Lmao, I didn't even add any stringers or other support. The name of the boat was coochiecraft....not kidding, that was the actual decal on 2 sides. Anyway, I had that thing in the wind that same day with the floor flexing and buckling under my feet (I'll bet it flexed up to 2-3 inches). But hey, I think I was moving so fast....the ol' coochie was scared to break apart. Maybe the "cantwo" will respect you the same way (or maybe you could call it "trinoe"). (no matter how dangerous it may be)<br /><br />Anyone who's messed with small outboards know if there's much diff in weight in the 10 to 20 hp range motors?
If the higher hp motors were lighter i'd be happy to slap one on but under the circumstances I dont have a choice ... guess i'll stick with my 4 hp... not going to spend a load of money to gain 1 or 2 hp either.
<br /><br />Anyway I think the issue is a canoe is not a planing hull it is a semi-displacement hull. With enough power anything will plane! With enough weight it will also sink. <br /><br />It looks cool but I think you need to build a little boat made for the 4-25 hp motors your really wanting.<br /><br />I am thinking of a project for the kids. I love it.. I'm one more trials cruise away from slipping this into my Sisters pond and leave it for the nephews to paddle it around... If I can get a lightweight test captian to try it out and it works good with this motor with the lighter weight I may keep going and slap a steering and throttle assy on it so they can face forward and drive it. <br /><br />Here is my next projects.... First I am picking this up in themiddle of OCT to restore and use. I'm hauling it from WA state to TN. (I've never really been right in the head can ya tell? ) I just like the hull design so much and from what I'm told its in decent shape. Oh and the price is right.. <br /><br />
