Re: Can't install my new Smart Tab :(

Just mount the tabs inboard a little to clear the tiedowns, many installations just have to be that way, on my 20 footer the transom had a built in platform I had no choice and they still work just great, look here's a picture of someones boat here on the forum, I couldn't find one of mine but it it's basicaly the same design.http://forums.iboats.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6776&d=1193241510

What am i invisible or what.

Mount the tabs correctly, you can cut 2 pieces 1/4 inch metal if you want, and bolt them where you want to the trailer and drill a hole thru them for the straps.

Or just drill a hole in the trailer where the s hook will go for the strap.

Or get retractible straps and mount them to the trailer. last thing you got to worry about is the straps.

Just because someone else didn't follow the directions doesn't make it a good idea.

Re: Can't install my new Smart Tab :(

There is probably a mooring eye on each side of the boat at the stern. Make a bridle out of heavy rope and then connect one end to each eye. Tie another rope in the middle of that bridle and connect the other end to a tree or another vehicle. A very gentle tug on trailer will slide the boat back. If you go a little too far, winch it back to where you want it. NOTE: The object here is not to drop the boat on the ground so don't take off like you are late for a job interview. Just a very short tug is all that's necessary.

Re: Can't install my new Smart Tab :(

The installation suggestions came directly from Nuaticus, I had sent pictures of my peticular transom design and this WAS their recomendation, however I would definately have moved the tie downs instead if was that simple. I answered the guys question on wheather the HAVE to located within 10" and the answer is NO they don't.

I'm so damn fat you can't miss me. Ugly to.

Yea i say hook a rope to the rear eye and tie to a tree and let off the winch, pull the trailer out from under the boat did it maybe 50 times myself, like i farted in the wind no one even smelled it.

I say drill a hole in the trailer over a bit for the s hook on the strap he don't even see it.

Here i am here i am.

Hows goergia cold? Any deer there needing shooting, Jim ?

Chiefalan he doesn't have an S hook, it's one of them new fangled inegrated ratcheting straps and theres not a bunch of room there, have to come up with something a little more elaborate or get rid of them altogether and go with the S hook type and drill a hole like you said.

I see ya!

Ayuh,... Chef Who,..?? :D

Angel,...

Bottom line is;.. It's Your Boat... Mount them Anywhere, Any how you Like....

The Further Outboard, the More Leverage they have...
Moving them more inboard just Lessens their Effect...

If you Don't want to Move things,..
You're limited to Where you can mount them, but they'll Still work,...
Just not a effectively as on the Outside corners...

Ok Fellows it is now about 7 hours later and I finished. Thank you to everyone here for all your input. That is why I love this site, Everyone here is just looking out for someone else. Here are my pics of my finished project. I ended up drilling a hole in the trailer and moving the strap over and it worked out great. I was able to place the tabs exactly where they go.

and now on to my next project. Installing dual batteries. I will move this one to the correct forum.

Thanks again Fellows!!

Good job, 2 holes see, you were worried about nathing, nathing.

Seriously be careful with the dual battery setup.

Set it up just like the tabs follow the directions religiously.

May you have good fortune in all your endeavors.

Re: Can't install my new Smart Tab :(

been away today, but your solution, was exactly what i was going to suggest. that actually is a better strapping set up, as the straps pull to the center of the trailer.
