you will need 3 chases one for battery/electrical
1 for steering
1 for controls
i would use 2" flex pvc for chase and go from center to starboard corner rear that way your steering would be at right spot to come around to hit the transom as well as shift controls then you need to figure out steering control thats small enough to fit inside console
easy project really if you are already doing floor :)

Hey guys. Question for you. Can someone tell me where I could find 2” flex pvc here in Canada? Or what exactly I’m looking for? Got my tabbing on my stringers done today and also got my first two bulkheads cut. Need to drill my holes for my chases before I soak them in resin.

Also what size hole saw should I use?

Thanks

Dezi

If you use any flex make sure it is smooth inside and not ringed. Flex will belly sag and hold water.
Pulling wire is hard enough with out the interior ridges. Typically under deck is usually electrical ridgid conduit piping or a pvc thin wall pipe like the kind used for rain water.
Above deck under gunnels is a great way to run wiring and steering if you have the space for all that.
You can get creative.
I ran 2" conduit under my deck to steering console and intend to run other wiring under gunnels. I have the space. :joyous:

Being a custom center console I have to go under deck. So I will use rigid 2” pvc tubing. Thanks for the quick reply. :)

Well plans might have to change. I don’t have enough room under the deck to run 3 2” pipes under there. I am gonna have to think about some other way to get cables to the back. Maybe a raised bow? Move the console to the starboard (not thrilled about this one)? Any ideas? I don’t want to put a hump on the deck. I guess I have some time to think about it.

Hey All. Sorry for the loooong delay.. Been a busy week/weekend. Got some time in the boat though and moving forward still.

Got my first set of stringers set in PB, Fillets, and tabbed. Pretty happy with the way things turned out. A few bubbles but easy fixes..

Cut a couple of 2x4's to the width of the hull where the deck is going to sit. Gave me a reference point for the stringer height.
Then used a couple of L brackets to hold the stringers up off the hull and filled them in with PB

Next I needed to cut out the first couple of bulkheads. Needed to have a router table for the smaller pieces so I mounted the router in my saw horse clamp and it worked awesome :)

All soaking in resin for the night...

More pics to come....

Got my stringers tabbed while I was waiting for the resin to cure on the bulkheads... I think I did an ok job for my first time.. Looks pretty good to me. A few bubbles but I will clean those out before I lay a layer of 17oz biax in there. I plan to use 17oz on the whole hull at least one layer just to stiffen things up.

Then I had some time so I figured I would wrap the first bulkhead with 2 layers of 17oz outside of the boat on my stand.. I really like doing it this was as it let's me see better what I am doing. No Bubbles :)

On another note. I should be ok using 3 - 2" PVC tubes along the side of the stringer. I found some flexible PVC hose that I think I can use. If not, rigid pipe along the stringers then sweeps on each end...

Once I get the pipe, I will lay it out and show you guys what I am trying to do. Get your thoughts and ideas...

I know this is not straight. Just sample pieces to play with to see what I could do with it. It is smooth inside as well...

Thanks again for all the help and ideas everyone :)

DEz, when you are done you will have a very well constructed water vessel. ;)

Thanks :) I was looking at it last night and thought.. WOW I have already surpassed the factory install ;)

I only want to do this once and enjoy it for the next 10 years.. Or until I get a bigger boat to re do ;)

My goal for the underdeck is when I have all the bulkheads and wingy thingy's I want to lay a full piece of cloth in each compartment so it is completely waterproof before I put in the foam... No drainage except for the gas tank area...

Can't wait to get the deck on. After that I get to use my imagination and build all custom side panels, center console etc... Going to be very fun....

One day at a time. Even if it’s cleaning up or just a little bit glass work I’m happy. We get just over 2 weeks of shutdown as well over Christmas so I hope to get a bunch done then :)

Complete opposite for me. 6 days a week Til the new year. Lousy time of year to be an Auto Technician working in a National brand tire Retailer.🤨

Yep. Your busy season is now and ours is over and slowed right down. I’m a service manager for an RV dealership. We just finished all our winterizing. We play foot hockey pretty well from now till January when the RV shows start up 🤪
