Hahahahhahaha. Yes I know Scott. It’s more
practice for when I paint the topside I could have left it alone but I just hand to make it smooth. This is the last attempt. 4 good coats in total will be put down and I think that should be more than enough. Will have used almost 3 quarts of paint on it no matter what the outcome is I will be happy. Looks like a late night paint job as well. Still pretty warm and high humidity right now. Gonna rain shortly so maybe that will help as well.

Trade you ttemp and humidity......Our dew point is 80 degrees, and the daily temp has been in the low 90s...... It has been raining every day about 1.5".... I cant even get to my boat without sinking in the yard....

picky. 11 more minutes and we start to paint. 74% humidity and about 24 degrees in the shop. Let’s hope.

went out this morning and within 10 minutes felt like i showered and put cloths on without drying off lol
if you are fighting op did you try raising your air pressure ? i found raising air pressure and moving gun closer to boat atomized the paint better and lessened op without thinning paint more, its always trial and error though ..

Well hull is painted. 2 hours in total to do the whole thing with me and the wife. I am. Dry happy with the results for a first time ever doing this. There is a bit of orange peel but nothing like before. Nice and shiny and no sags or runs. Time to let it cure for a good week then hope to flip it back on the trailer so I can get the inside done before late fall and tick it away for the winter and work on the engine, drive, console and interior. Come spring it should just be assembly and out in the water we go . Will post some
pics later today from last night.

I'd use 3-4 oz of the 50/50 reducer. The catalyst is a 16:1 ratio. Are you doing the Roll n' Roll technique? If so make sure the second roller is just barely damp with paint and that you do a very light roll. Basically just the weight of the roller of the high density foam. I'd also allow 2 hours between coats. You can do a light wet sanding with 320 grit and then wipe down with the reducer mix and roll the next coat.

Hey Everyone. Sorry for the long delay in getting back on here. It has been a whirlwind over the past few weeks. Me and the family had the chance to go to Virginia last week for some holidays. It was beautiful to see the mountains. Even had a bear run up the hill right in front of us on our hike. Needless to say that ended the hike On our way home last Friday, my wife got a phone call and her father passed away. He was in and out of the hospital while we were away but had to go in for emergency surgery and after that things all went down hill. It has been very hard on us all. I never really had a dad growing up. He taught me all this stuff that I know today. Fiberglass work, painting, cutting 2 truck frames apart to make one, welding, fishing, hunting, trapping, this list goes on. He will be dearly missed....

So I did a final light sand on the hull, washed and then wiped down with acetone. Then got my paint mixed and waited 30 minutes for it to cook. Wifey had her glass of wine while we waited







Then it was time to get the last coat down. She did the paint rolling I did the dry rolling..





We actually work pretty good together. Looked good so we left it in the garage for a couple days before I pulled it outside.

Very Very happy with how it turned out. There is some orange peel but really it's the bottom of the boat. And so far everyone that has come by has said WOW and how great it looks so I keep my mouth shut.

It has been about 3 weeks now sitting outside. I would like to give it a good wash and then wax the bottom before I flip it and put it back on the trailer.

Can I just wash and wax? Should it be buffed? If I can just wash and wax, What wax should I use and can I do it by hand?

Dez, sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my father in law over a year and a half ago, and not a day goes by that we dont remember hes gone... it's a very hard thing to deal with, especially for kids if they were close... my two little ones had a very hard time, but we all got thru it and so will you. Everyone does, so keep your heads up.

I have always stuck with a good Carnuba wax.

Hey. It is Rolled on and dry rolled only where needed. It actually went down really nice. I just worried mostly with a couple little runs and roller lines with from the admiral.
