Carb advice

Ok I've about got my motor perfect. Now the only thing left is the carb has a dead spot. 1985 evinrude 60 hp. Carbs are clean.ive ran wire threw all the jets and blowed them out.many times.if I give it gas slow it kills out unless I hit the choke.if I give it gas fast it runs fine I just back off a little when I do that. It has no adjustments on the carb.only thing I have seen is the choke has a red knob on it that turns.would turning it make it right? This is the newest motor I have owned.im more of a fan of the older motors cause you can adjust about everything and does not have a computer. The butterfly's are closed at idle. It's like the low speed jets are not getting enough fuel.it does not run rich.clean plugs every time I run it. It don't even blue smoke much.im mixing 50:1.

That primer injector ( choke ) is an electric valve.-------It opens when you push in the key in while cranking.---It injects fuel for quick starting and it is a very good set up.------The red lever is for manual operation of the valve should you have a dead battery.

But if it's Manuel what would the the battery have to do with it?

If you have a dead battery and you have to pull start with a rope, you will need to rotate the red lever 180 degrees from the automatic position to manually choke the engine. When you get the engine started, then you have to rotate the red lever to the automatic position to keep the engine from flooding out.
When you cleaned the carbs, did you remove the core plug on top of the carbs and make sure the tiny passages inside are clean?

I did not do that I did not want to brake it but I did blow air threw the jests where that plug is.it has 2 small holes and both have a steady stream of air going threw them.to be honest I've been threw this carb maybe 20 times and I'm convened its clean.

Floats are set correctly? Both carbs are synced together, and synced to spark advance?

Both floats sit level that's the only way I know to tell.both are synced to gather and spark advanced idk the arrow is pointing at the center of the wheel. I'm sure it's the low speed jet or jets. It runs perfect after you bump the choke on plane.

Some of the running issues could be related to the relationship between the ignition spark advance and the simultaneous opening of the carb butterflys. This relationship is called the sync and link. If it's off-it could cause a bog situation. It is not complicated, but difficult to explain in a brief paragraph. Look for this detailed procedure in a copy of the original factory service manual.

I posted this to someone else a while ago but is still relavent.

I had an 18hp Evinrude that had a carb problem. I too thought it was clean. No to little improvement. I ended up cleaning that same carb 3 different times before it would actually idle the way it was supposed to. Each time I thought it was clean.

Also on engines running multiple carbs. If just one is running lean it can and has caused damage to that one cylinder.

I have read and talked to many owners of 2 and 3 cylinder OMC engines using VRO that had blown up on them and then they blamed the VRO pump, only to later discover that there was only 1 cylinder that was damaged. More likely to be a faulty carb than a faulty VRO pump.

I do know my vro pump was removed.im not sure what it did but have a idea.

The VRO pump mixes the fuel and oil, 2 seperate tanks.

Still in this case, no VRO, if there is one cylinder that is running lean because of a dirty carb you can still scorch a piston, cylinder.

That's what I figured.im 100% the carb is clean.im literally checked it 20 times.every passage.
