Re: carb float holder
Awww thanks RobJ... your gonna make me blush...
I'm not as good as Don S, or Bondo or Rodbolt..... (and i'm not as old either!! jab jab!) But i've been around a little bit. I'm a good middle man!
Carbs are expensive.....
Boating is ridiculous......
But being broken down 5 miles off shore is priceless
I'd bet a dollar that he could JB Weld the part back on and it would stick....
But I'd bet 2 dollars that the float would stick all the time.....
CCMarsh... Not every carb can be rebuilt. Throttle valve shaft seals wear out and are not serviceable.
If somebody brought me an original carb off of a 71 anything... i wouldn't even open it up... i'd punt it.
If you have an idle that just won't come down, if you have an engine that spits and pops.... and if you have a motor that is mysteriously burning valves.... the last thing you want to do is "rebuild" a 37 year old carb.
