Re: Carb Issue

Great News! as I mentioned last night, I was able to use the spark plug wrench described in the link to get number one out. From there today a screwed in my compression gauge to verify for sure the compression stroke. Brought the alignment marks around, and verified correct initial timing without any question.

Cracked on the garden hose, gave her quarter throttle, turned the key and SUCCESS!!!!!! The new crate engine came to life with a roar! I want to be super careful with her so I kept her around 1500 - 1800 RPM's until she came up and leveled off at about 185 degrees (by infrared thermometer)then I shut her down. I want to break her in gentle so I want to ask about good break-in practices (will start another thread). I also have a ton of adjustments to do with the final timing, shift cable, shift interrupt, idle, serge brakes on trailer, things to do with the stereo.

I can't tell you all how pleased I am with this forum :D . To each and every one who helped me with ideas thanks!

So now my project boat is nearly done and ready for lake trials. I have been through every single system in this boat and for a year and a half, the parts were in piles on my garage floor and bench. I've brought it all back together, and when it didn't all fit, or the going got tough, you all were there to help. I am making a commitment right here and now to try to give back to this forum.

Sincerely,

BP
