Re: Carbs/Float???

I think the one you need is a 0382050, but let me do some checking.

Actual model number is RXE-14R. Looks like this is a 1966 and not a 1968 as I had originally thought.

Having trouble finding the carb kit though....

Did you go to SCAD?

Your list of what to do, you are combining different processes. The spray bottle of goa/oil would be used to tell if your getting fuel by an old test of the give it what it needs. This would be done with an old spray bottle you tripple rinsed or preferably going to dollar store and buying a cheap spray bottle that you can put anything in. This is NOT used to clean passages. Spray carb cleaner is the product for this is, and is bought as an airisol. But i agree buy the dip can of Cleaner and let soak over night at least preferably 48 hours and then blow out with compressed air. If doing it on the boat that computer canned air duster will work or canned carb cleaner to give a flushing affect.

As to your linkages it dosent matter which end comes loose. Do whichever will dissconnect easiest. If you disconnect the bottom just remember that you will have that linkage attached to your carb the whole time.

Oh, by the way i live in the area listed. Im originally from charleston, went to clemson, and have a farm south of charlotte. Im all over the state.

I thought I might have been misunderstanding, thanks. I'm going to let it soak in dip I'm just having trouble finding the carb rebuild kit online.

Yep I went to SCAD. Enjoyed living in Savannah for the most part and had a great experience at the school!

Re: Carbs/Float???

marineengine.com has the schematics and parts list for your engine, however, I didn't see a carb kit listed. They have a toll free number you could call and check. Several of the used/new parts dealers listed in the Top Secret Files may have a kit as well. I'd call a local BRP dealer too, a local one here has found several parts for me through their dealer network for motors dating back to 1958.

Yeah I didn't see it listed either. I just got home from the West Marine store. They ordered the kit and a float for me...should be here next week!

Nappa, can also get sierra parts. there usually more than online sources but they have a person who can help. If you can get a part number you can order anywhere.

Re: Carbs/Float???

I agree with Daviet the carb needs to be rebuilt. What I have found is sometimes the carb float gets "varnished" with age. It will run great at WOT but the motor will flood out at idle because the float no longer floats up to close the needle in order to shut off the fuel supply.
No amount of seafoam will fix a varnished carb float. I would rebuild the carb with a new float.

Did You ever get it fixed?

Not yet! Things have been running pretty well so I was trying to get through the holiday weekend before taking the engine apart.

I will post back with progress/updates/questions soon!
