hi,

I have the opportunity to restore one of these. It looks in good nick for it's year and has the champagne gel coat. I'm sure it's prob the only one in the country which is why I'd like to restore it.

I'm getting it for nothing but it will need deck , transom and stringer work, need seats etc. which I don't mind doing as I have some expereience in it.

My questions are these though.

Being an outboard man this would be my first i/o, is the motor in these boats of good build? are parts easy to get ?

how do these boats travel ?

I will start a restore thread if i do go ahead with this , as it has all original gauges which do work i'm told , so to get it back to how it once looked would be nice.

Is it a good boat? It depends on what you're looking for. Taking more than 1 or 2 people, not so good. Also depends on which engine it has. If it has the Volvo B20 4cyl, I'd run away. If it has the 140hp Chevy (Mercruiser) 4cyl or the V8 it might be worth restoring.
From what I've read the hull performs well through the upper 50's, above that they really start to chine walk.
