I was using a mix ration of 24 to 1 on a 67 evinrude 5 hp angler, and was having choke problems. Then I put a new fuel line on and the problems with the choke went away, so I changed the ratio to the recommended 50 to 1 and now about 80% of the time when I start it up and run it for two minutes I completely lose power and the motor cuts off. But after I restart it it ussually runs fine. Am I running too much gas through the motor now? Is it the new fuel mix that is causing the problem? I was not having this problem with the old fuel line and mix ratio.

You cut your oil by half, but you didn't increase your gas by twice as a result. It's only 2%, pretty insignificant. I think your problem lies inside that carburetor, or maybe with a failed fuel pump. Could even be a tank not venting, or other things. I'm not sure a new fuel line could fix a choke problem.

IF it were a problem with the oil (and it's not) and you ran it till it quit, that would be the end of it and it would never run again. You need to find the REAL problem through a systematic chicking of the engine. Guessing is fine and expensive and eventually you will luck out, I suppose.
