As many of you know my poor old 150hp inline 6 had an unfortunate death a few months ago. :( Found another one for cheap, but it has to be shipped from New York to Oregon. Can anybody tell me what the cheapest way to do it will be?

ABF.com should do it for about $200+/-, coast to coast, terminal to terminal.
Pickup or delivery charges would cost more.

keep in mind you will need either lift gate service
or a loading dock to unload it. this will cost
extra. make sure it's properly crated too.

Re: Cheapest way to ship an outboard?

Zmoz, I know I am being a vulture :D , but if you end up with a spare power tilt/trim setup (don't know if the outboard you just got has power or manual tilt), I will be more than happy to slide some green your way. I really realy really want power trim on my 1250. Hope it all works out for ya...

JasonJ,

I'll be converting my Merc 35 Power tilt/trim to non-power tilt/trim....If you're interested in my power tilt/trim, contact me at mhkelton@sbec.com and I'll make you a deal that will keep you awake at night! (i.e. extremely cheap) (or anyone else that wants the factory merc power tilt/trim.

trim pump, reservoir, hoses (2 of them are new at $40/each!), cylinders, etc.

Re: Cheapest way to ship an outboard?

Interesting, but would a Merc 35 trim setup be enough for a merc 1250? I think (but am not 100% sure) that I need an assembly from any Inline 6 that had power trim, the closer to my 69 the better. Thanx for the offer, I'll have to investigate further.

Re: Cheapest way to ship an outboard?

Investigate it as I don't know....It is a big unit with the remote motor/reservoir, 4 hoses, 2 lift cylinders.....I have no idea what it would fit....

I won't be ready to get rid of it until February so you have time to research it...... If it won't fit, I will put it up for sale then....Have no idea what it is worth....It works, but I'm putting on the CMC PT-135 to raise my motor and give me 90deg. tilt to get in the skinny water at the front of my property.....(plus, that big motor/reservoir takes up room in my little 13' whaler)

Later

Re: Cheapest way to ship an outboard?

I have been looking at the CMC. Its a bit of cash, but it does look like a good unit. I am suprised you aren't using the CMC 65, that is meant for the smaller motors like your 35 horse. What year is the motor the tilt/trim is from?
