Chrysler 6 HP not starting

It's a 6 horse Chrysler outboard Model: 64H9E.

Took apart the carburetor, cleaned it all out.
Cleaned the fuel hoses.
I checked the spark plugs on another motor that uses the same ones and they both work.
I tried pulling the starter with the spark plugs out, connected to the cables, next to the metal housing, but didn't see any sparks. Maybe I'm not doing it right though.
The spark plugs are wet when I take them out after trying to start it.

The motor just won't start. I admit I'm trying it with old gas, but I figured I should at least get it to fire. Give me some sign of life.
The bulb on the fuel hose pumps up and becomes firm. I tried it on Start, and Fast, with the choke open and closed. Hasn't even fired.

Just when I got the motor, the flywheel was stuck and I had to use a socket wrench on the top nut to force the flywheel to start moving. Now it moves pretty well though.

I appreciate the help in advance.

If the plugs were wet after your failed starting attempt I'd suspect a "No Spark" condition. Are there points/condensor under the flywheel? If so you may just need to clean and re-set. Good luck...

Re: Chrysler 6 HP not starting

I have a 15 horse gamefisher and on mine I have the primer on the tank and a
primmer on the motor. First time i tried to start it I way over primed meaning I flooded my poor spark plugs to death. Got a blister from pulling so much to I might.
add. Ouch!
So I took plugs out and cleaned and dried them replaced them and she fired right
on the first pull. I found that the primer on the motor only needs one or two pumps at most, anymore and hello blisters.

Thanks for the tip. I thought that's what the carburetor float switch is for. I only have the primer on the fuel line on the gas tank, and I figured the bulb pumps the gas into the carb, and the float switch prevents it from pumping any more.

I think I'll try to open the flywheel and see what I have to clean there to get a spark again.

How the heck do I take that nut off the flywheel? It feels impossible to get it off. I've got a socket and ratchet on it, tried turning it while the other guy held on to the prop and it just wouldn't budge. It's like it's welded on. What do I do?
