Good looking boat. It's great to see old boats like that. Don't want to hijack a thread but since it's labeled classic barn find, this kind of fits. What do you guys think of this Aristocraft?

Way to go smclear, now I have 2 projects. I was/am in the process of restoring my Executive, now I HAVE to buy an Aristo-Craft Avalon and rebuild/restore my Merc 800,

Aren't they the coolest looking boat? They are still being made. Same design.

It never really seemed that odd to me to get in my boat and steer from the right. But looking at the Aristicraft, it seemed odd to see the steering wheel on the port side! Wicked pretty boat though.

a 56' torpedo is kinda hard to find too. not many left i don't think..

True, but they still make the Avalon, a brand new unfinished one is only $6,900.00, all it needs is painting and varnishing. They have a museum in Alpheretta,Ga full of old and new boats. Me and the wife are heading over there next week to have a look.

Yes, I talked to them yesterday, they can handle up to a 225 lb engine, my Merc 800 weighs in at 195 lbs. Which according to the owner, should top out wickedly fast, They were designed for a 45 hp engine and hit 45 mph in that trim,

man, i'm envious. i want to go there too. i'm a little far away though. if they let ya take pics, post them up. i'd love to see that museum..

Will do Ziggy, it'll be a little over a 6 hour drive for us so I'll end up having to spring for a room in Hotlanta and take SWMBO out on the town.
