1988 4.3 MC Clean low hour boat/engine only seen fresh water. My question is if anyone has done this without cooling complications? I have a 5.7 heat exchanger and would like to change this raw water 4.3 to a closed system before i dump it in the salt water. Block off the risers, change therm housing, do the hose plumbing, and the main question- use the Alpha outdrive water pump to feed the exchanger and risers instead of installing a seperate raw water pump? Can it handle the job? My thought was where it's a 5.7 cooler cooling a V-6 the drive pump could do the job?

What temperature seawater you will be operating in? If it's less than 26C (79F) you're good to go with the drive pump. Any more than that and you need to go to the engine/belt driven pump....

Yeah, use to put your big toe in and it would go numb. 60-62 in the bay this summer and last. It's 55 right now at the east Penob bay bouy. Global warming i guess.
