Also check out defender.com. I bought 2 auto inflates for my dad for christmas and they were $92 each.

...picked up an auto inflatable at West at the end of the season for $72.
Given the time of year, I'd watch closely for sales.

Yeah, and when you do buy them, also pickup at least 1 recharge kit for each PFD.
When it's warm, have them practice their "man overboard" procedures. It'll give you (and them) valuable "real world" experience on how they work.

FYI- inflatable PFD's are available with 2 different ratings- "Offshore", which have more bouyancy, and "Coastal", which have less. If it were my kids, I'd want the maximum floatation money can buy.....

I agree with arks, great idea. Also worth mentioning that when these inflate the noise and cold can be very unsettling, especially for a young person in a traumatic situation.
I have several inflatables, whenever I take a guest out I take a few minutes to familiarize the person with the PFD. I emphasize the oral inflation operation and whistle location. BTW, the oral inflation is MUCH easier if the cover(secured by velcro or snaps) is opened before inflating.
I love inflatables, was wearing them before approval(USCG), my only reservation is now that they are so popular there seems to be a trend to build the cheapest. Add to this the availability of poor quality and/or seconds via online purchases and auctions and well, you see it coming.
My .02, buy a proven brand from a reputable seller.

on top of all that they are a really good company to deal with....they answered my questions quick, and i got to talk to a real human being in less than 60 seconds!......for me in canada....the quoted me shipping to my door with taxes and del including a landing date.........lets see the shop down the street do that !

I had purchased the last one left...adult size.
Looks like the kids are just going to have tread water!:D:D:D
Recharge kits are $25-35 a pop...expensive practice.
