What's the worst can happen if that comes out underway? I think it communicates with the cooling water passage (right there where there's a plastic piece that can be turned 90 degrees at a time when you're trying to position it properly, when the drive's off?) so you'd lose part of your cooling flow, but not certain.

I was checking those plugs and putting Triple Guard on the o-rings, and that one didn't want to snug back up. That one and one of the others on the RH side are allen head bolts (but maybe used to be slotted screw plugs?).

I removed the little o-ring I had on there and got the threads to take; tightened it down as much as I dared, and put gasket sealant around it (to keep it in as much as anything).

Seems like I'd already had trouble with that one in the past. One of the allens is shorter than the other, and that's the longer of the two. Anyway... just wondering if I could get back if it comes out at some point.

If you pull the never remove plug. You have to disassemble the whole drive to put it back together

I saw it (the Cobra emblem is missing on that side), but I never mess with it...

I think I'm probably good for this season (when/if I finally get it out on the water), but Idk if I need a longer screw or retap the drive for a different size or what, in future.

I can confirm that everything seems fine with that little plug out - on the water. On land, probably not. Kinda what I thought.

I couldn't get the threads to take at all this year when de-winterizing (there was grit in there or something; but don't know why exactly), so I put it in and put gasket sealer all around/on it after trying a different screw or two with the same threads but no success.

First time out last month temp was fine (never hit 160F), then finally remembered before going out again yesterday to see if it was still there. Gone. Same thing temp-wise though, it stayed cool on the lake.

I don't know what happened to the drive threads. It may be a drive off kind of repair.
