Oh, and it has the perfect amount of "grit" for good anti-slip. With this being cheaper than Herculiner, and the extra color choices, I would def recommend!

*sigh* found 2 small leaks on the very bottom, after I took her out for the first time this weekend. They were hidden by the "V" part of the front of the trailor, thus why I never noticed them, dammit. Hopefully some epoxy takes care of it!

Hello all,

Well its been a while! Since ive quit my full-time job, i now have time for more important things, like spring time fishing! I got my boat turned over on the trailor today, and finally patched up the few cracks on the bottom of the hull. While i have her turned over, im thinking of either painting or gel-coating the hull. If anyone has any advice on this subject, i'm all ears! Otherwise, i will begin research on the matter starting now! Glad to be back though :)

Hello the boat looks great, and good idea on the bedliner the stuff holds up great to water and makes a good slip resistant coat. The entire bottom of my boat is covered in the black dupi bedliner and im planning on doing the inside of the boat either white " not my first choice but it's not going to be nearly as hot " or go black inside also with tan carpet.

That 15horse is going to make that little tank fly across the water like a champ!

Thanks! I quit my full-time job just in time to get her ready for spring (i hope!)...

I am currently stuck at what to do with the hull though! And you just reminded me, i still need to test that Mariner to make sure she runs, and then mount it! Grrrrr not enough time in the day....

White was my second choice, and i am not all that happy with my current color (grey), but oh well, such is life!

Its not much but here are a cpl pics, with one showing the main area that needed the epoxy repair (this is after it dried and i sanded most of it).

Is it a must that i remove this one coat of spray paint that someone "custom" did, in camo may i add, before i gel or paint?? Lol...i sure hope not...

Well, despite the overwelming opinions here to go the spray method instead of roll/tip, i guess i will attempt to roll it on, due to lack of funds + knowledge of using one of those machines! I know there is a ton of sanding involved, i dont mind though, got plenty of time on my hands...

I plan on doing the shopping for supplies today and tomorrow. Is it best to get everything online, or look for a place local to pick up everything? If someone could provide a list of the items needed to take on a project like this, it would be much appreciated! Im kinda lost, as usual :(

The gel coats i have seen online range anywhere from $20 to $150! My plan so far is to go with the cheap stuff, thinking that if i make any mistakes or anything i can just start over or something. Thoughts on this ingenious idea??

Also, is there a certain type of roller and brush i should get? What about the squegee(sp?) method? What tool is used for this?

If there are threads ob here i can read with this specific info, i will be glad to go back and start reading!

I guess online is my best option for getting my supplies, not sure though.

The hull is patched up, sanded, and ready. No primer is needed for gel correct?

Thanks everyone! I wouldnt even have the deck coated by now without the help of this forum!

Uhhmmm, if you are going to gelcoat the hull it has to be sanded down to bare glass. You cannot gelcoat over paint. If it were my boat, I'd do like EZ says and use the Valspar Paint and hardener. Page #10 in my "My Flamingo" Thread listed below has all the info on how to paint your boat using this method. I painted mine this way as did a Lot of others here on the forum with Great results. You can do it for Less than $80 bucks. Roll n' Roll method works GREAT!!!! Check it out.

I just read your flamingo thread in full, and to say i am impressed would be an understatement!

Priming/painting my 14fter for around $80 interests me VERY much!
If u would be so kind to take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to outline the products needed to paint/prime the hull of my vessel, i would be EXTREMELY grateful! My past 30min of searching has made me more confused than i was in the beginning!! :(

What i am most interested in is the brand/type of primer and paint needed, as well as any other thinners/hardners needed...god im confused!! And in need of serious help :D

Your kindness will NOT go unappreciated!

Hi All,

Been forever since i've been here unfortunately. Had a bunch of financial issues come up, and the time has come to let this girl go :(
If allowed, my Craigslist ad can be seen here:

**Good Fishing Boat 14ft Great Price**

I will say, that i WILL be back, with another project, that is for sure.....
Everyone here has been helpful and kind, this is by far the best boating forum, and it's not even close! See u all soon....

Thanks for ALL the help,

StayAfloatPlz

P.S. Did that one epic extend-a-boat project ever finish? The cut a bayliner(i think thats what it was?) in half, add a few feet, and paint it etc.???

EDIT: Checking the Classified section here, I just realized it costs $$$ to place an ad. If including the link to my Craigslit ad in this post is a no no, mods please just let me know and i shall edit it out! thanks
