I can't say about the price, since I don't follow prices on larger outboards. Don't rely on a verbal agreement regarding it running on your boat, however. Insist on a written agreement that you can return the motor for a refund or repair if it does not perform properly on your boat.<br /><br />How far away from you is this marine center? Is your boat already set up for this outboard? If not, you might want to consider having the marine center install and set up the engine as part of the purchase price, then test it on the water at their location. Any problems should be taken care of before you take delivery.<br /><br />Anytime you're spending close to $4K on an outboard, I'd want to make very sure that it is going to run properly before handing over the bucks.<br /><br />It's not that I don't trust your dealer...it's just common sense to make certain that things are done right and that you're satisfied with both the outboard and the installation.
