how many pound's of compression is normal for 5.7 volvo penta?

I am going to wing this one, but I would say a new engine just broke in bellow 10-1 compression would be 190-210 psi.
normal used engine 170-190 psi

It's a Chevy engine. Here is the spec, almost word for word of the Volvo spec.

I know you can't really go by this, but 10:1 x 14.7 = 147 PSI.

Without reading the manual I would imagine anything around 150 with a 10 - 15% highest difference would be good.

If the highest read 155 then the lowest should not be lower than about 130.


Make sure you check the manual though.

You are right...you can't. You have to take into account the specific heat ratio of the air.
