COngrats on the carry permit. I keep mine current as well. You can really get in trouble without it in many states. If you are an interstate traveler, best to have one, even if the visiting state does not honor your home state license, at least you are licensed somewhere...

Find a good gun shop, there are a ton of holster models out there and I am sure you can find something to suit you.

In Massachusetts you do not need a separate permit to carry concealed, years ago we did. In Mass. we have a class A large capacity which permits you to carry many rounds and a class B small capacity you can not carry any more then ten rounds. I believe in fire power.
They have also changed the purpose for carrying. It use to be for protection and now it reads for any lawfull purpose.

Congratulations, and definitely don't chintz on the leather. IMO Galco is probably the best out there. I feel they have the best fit and the most selection for placement. I'm a lefty and Galco also makes a very good selection for lefty's which most other companies don't. The fit is so good on the weapon that my belt rig doesn't even have a retention strap and I've never lost my piece even when running. I've been using the same holster for 15 years now and while it's loosened up a little from when it was new, it still holds the pistol securely, so the longevity is there as well.

If you're new to concealed carry, even a good holster won't be comfortable initially.
Test-fit different brands and types, then decide what 'feels right' for you. Wear it for at least 2 weeks and by then you'll either like it or hate it!

What state are you in kei9th?

I am not a big gun nut myself. I have a pellet gun rifle from when I was young. I also have a antique .38 revolver from my Grandfather.

I have thought of getting a handgun for all the crazies out there. My Sister and her Daughter took shooting lessons.

Re: concealed carry permit

i live in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. im having a tough time finding a holster for the gun i plan on carrying concealed. i guess the Taurus Millennium Pro .45 is not a very popular gun. ill find something , ill just have to go to different gun shops and try different holsters. i was looking for something that goes under my arm below my armpit.

Re: concealed carry permit

I didn't realize how small that Taurus is. It's more suited to an ankle holster or an inside-the-waistband type holster. If you go with a ballistic nylon holster, the holster may be bulkier than the gun itself. My opinion is: If I'm gonna show a little....it'll be because the gun is huge, not the holster. You're right in one of your original posts- you may have to go to a leather smith to have something custom made.

ya the gun is small but i figure with the .45 that even if im not dead on you're still pretty much dead. i have posted before that my wife says yes, when she says yes i say okay. i will probably go to a leather shop and spend a few bucks. just in case anyone is wondering, im dead on at 30 feet and i can hit the target every time at 75 feet but not accurately.

Re: concealed carry permit

Listen, i watched a guy qualify with a little kel-tec 380, so I'm not sweating the size thing.......just thinking about possibilities for holsters for you....so I was trying to do some research for ya and brought up a picture of that pistol. I was just commenting that I didn't realize it's true size.

As far as accuracy, all you need is to be able to hit a pie plate consistently at 7 yards preferably with your gun about belly height and in close to your body. If you shoot anyone farther away than a few feet, you are gonna have a real tough time explaining why. Most non-police shootings occur at under this range. What I practice is getting the gun into play quickly and retaining it when the BG is within arm's reach. Stuff happens a lot faster than you think when it happens and then reactions come into play. Plain and simple, your body goes into survival mode and it's not gonna do anything it hasn't been trained to do. You probably won't have time to bring your gun up and adopt a proper stance or achieve a sight picture. And you won't have time to rack the slide or any of that other crap. Carry locked and loaded, one in the pipe. All you shooting practice should include having to disengage the safety, if that's how you carry. Mine are all double action so I carry ready to roll, safety off, hammer down.

Re: concealed carry permit

ive been looking into taking a class on the proper way to draw and fire my gun. the place where i went to the class for the permit also offers that type of class. i also have a double action on this gun so im ready to rock and roll so to speak. also being able to hit a target that dose not move or shoot back is quite easy. mostly you will never even engage someone more than the distance of a typical sized room.

I wish they would give us lifetimes here... I understand form the GA Packing website that a bill is being put before our state legislature to allow that. I hope it gets passed...

Attend a gun show, take your unloaded gun with you. Then you can shop the many vendors there for an idea of the holster you want. Some will even steam and vacuum fit a leather holster to your gun onsite.

Re: concealed carry permit

I often keep a small widdle 38 special hidden under my drivers sear just in case I have to have it but its not out in public. Because Im not carrying it around I figure I dont need a carry permit. Its not one of these big ole nasty 45 "make my day" things . You can almost hide in in the palm of your hand just a little thing. You would have to give the car a good search to even find it.Im the only person that needs to know where it is anyway. The only people that would ever see it would be when I had to draw down on them and thats very unlikely to happin.
