Heres a recap of my problem from another post:
"I was running WOT. Ran great as usual. All of a sudden, it dropped about 20% or so RPM. It was sudden and smooth, in fact I looked to see if my dog had knocked the throttle control back. It had not moved. It ran very smooth, no sputtering, no odd sound, just lower RPM and slower speed. I backed it down some, then put it back up, still maxed at the lower speed. Next day drove it to ramp. Still not full power. In no wake zone, it would occassionally "surge" up RPMs for a few seconds. then back down.
Starts instantly, idles and runs smooth,
Here is what I have done so far based on advice from here:
1) Checked spark. Initial test no good. I recharged battery to full and tested again. Using spark gap tester, all 4 sparked strong at 7/16th.
2) Pulled plugs. One looked a little worn on the end. They all were a bit oily and black, prob due to recent idleing. I went ahead and replaced all plugs.
3) Checked all plug wires and connections.
4) Inspected wiring for loose ground or other loose connector. All looked in order.
5) Cleaned carbs using carb cleaner (while engine running) according to directions.
6) Today on sea test when it was full throttle, i pumped the bulb. No change.
Im still thinking electrical but am stumped at what I should do next.
Any ideas?
