Convert trailer for inboard use

I just purchased a 2007 Malibu wakesetter 23 foot that is sitting on an aluminum trailer but the prop is sitting on the rear roller. I was wondering if I could replace the rear bunks with 2x12 boards to allow clearance to use this trailer with this boat.

Looks like you need to raise all the bunks a bit. Sure don't want any weight on the prop, good chance of bending the shaft as is.

Any recommendations? I was thinking increasing the rear boards from 2x6 to 2x12, what would you do for the front two?

sell the bass boat trailer you have and get a real wake board trailer before you bend your prop, prop shaft and strut more than it already has

the prop already has a ding out of it and the prop is pushed up against the hull.



this is what an inboard trailer looks like. while you can probably modify what you have, it would be better to get one designed and built for a wakeboard boat.

Yeah ive already done that, this is just how it was when i got it from the guy that sold it to me. I was just wanting to make this trailer work for the time being until i get the trailer I want.

Yeah it seems to be fine after I got the weight off of it, but we will see once I get everything going and in the water.

Yeah I’m going to eventually get a good trailer for it, but was wanting to make this work for now while I do some work on it before next season.

You will have to have a new rear crossmember fabbed to make it work, otherwise to raise it enough to clear the prop safely, you will have to really sink the trailer to get the boat on and off.
As Scott said, a trailer made for an inboard is the way to go....
