Thanks from a lurker for all the great information. Pure newbie. Never had a power boat.

I've run the options on the Mercury website for finding the right propeller for my engine and boat. http://www.mercurymarine.com/prop_selector

Problem is, none of the boats, from "aluminum" to "flats", and none of the rest, are anything like mine. In fact, I won't be finished with mine for at least six months, but I've got a down payment on a Merc 50 EFI 4-stroke for it.

The boat is a cedar skiff, 19'6" X 6'9", fine entry, rounded bow, then flat bottom. The boat itself will weigh about 1000 lbs. It's the Ocean Pointer, here: http://www.by-the-sea.com/stimsonmarine/

The website at Merc says a Vengeance 16pitch for the closest boats I can find, but they all are heavier by at least 1000 pounds.

Is there a way we can get this selection done without going to the water and sampling?
