Correct Prop ?

I have a 20ft Aluminum boat with a Suzuki 115hp 4 stroke.

When I purchased the boat - because I live at 3,050 ft and would be using the boat at that altitude - the dealer exchanged the prop to a 19" rather than the normal 21" pitch.

I had the boat out yesterday (for the first time this year :)) with the normal load at WOT could only get 5,700 rpm (Suzuki 115 range 5,000 - 6,000). Is it worth experimenting with a different pitch prop to be able to use those extra 300 rpm?

Thank you !!

If the load was normal and all of your data is correct, then I'd say you're just about perfect. They are usually faster top speed when propped toward the bottom of the range, but you then sacrifice hole shot. Unless there is some performance need that you are not getting I'd say leave it the flyin' flip alone!!!

Head to Vegas your luck is running good . . . :D

Re: Correct Prop ?

You could try a Turning Point prop with the same pitch and see what that does?
I am currently using one and couldn't be happier, I replaced my stock Black Max prop which only gave me 5700-5800 rpm with the TP and I am now reaching my max rpm of 6000.
I also believe they are on sale right now at iboats which makes trying one even more tempting. Good Luck.........Irv964 (info in link below)
