Corsa Black plug 3 wire diverter to white plug 3 wire?

I have a 2007 Cobalt and it has a Corsa system installed. Both diverters have failed and no longer energize and instead they just click and wiggle a little bit but don't actually actuate.

I have removed the diverters and combined the red and white wire to a constant 12 volt and rounded the black and get the same results.

Friend of mine is going full exhaust on his 8.1 MPI and pulled his whole Corsa system and gave me his diverters.

His are also three wire but it has a red and a black wire and a white connector and then another single red wire on a single white connector.

Where is on mine? My old solenoids are actually four wire solenoids that feed into a small cylinder relay and then converts to three wires into a three-wire black connector.

I found some pretty interesting other users on here that were successfully able to use the newer 4/3 wire actuator in their older two-wire system

But nowhere can I find anything about this? Interesting white connector 3. Wire diverter that I have from my friend.

My dead diverters are four wire to three wire and have a built-in time delay relay... The replacements which work properly when applying 12 volt and ground to them. Also I have three wires but there is no integrated solenoid and no four wires anywhere.

So it seems like they should work. Just trying to get a little bit more information about the wiring on these as I can't find anything on corsa's website or on Google or on YouTube.

Thanks for any insight and help.

I took a set off my motor during repower and put them on the shelf. Did replace the 3 to 4 wire some years back. I'll go check later and see if mine are different

Correction I went from 4 wire to 3 wire when my started having trouble. The 3 wire is the new style like in your first pic. Bought a new solenoid kit from Corsa and came with new harness

It sounds like you have two different generations of Corsa diverter actuators. The older setup used the 4-wire solenoid with a built-in delay module, then converted to a 3-wire harness. The newer style actuators usually have the control electronics built into the actuator itself, so they only need the 3 wires (power, ground, and control).

If your friend’s diverters move when you apply 12V and ground, they are likely good. The extra single red wire on the white connector is probably a switched power/control lead used by that style of actuator, not an extra motor feed.

Before installing, I’d verify:

Red = constant +12V
Black = ground
Third wire = trigger/control (usually switched +12V or signal depending on model)

Your old system may not be providing the correct trigger because the original delay relay was part of the control circuit. Bypassing it by tying red/white together may not work because the newer actuator may be looking for a proper switched signal.

I’d trace the Corsa controller output rather than just jumping wires. If the replacement actuators work directly from a battery but not from the boat wiring, the issue is likely the control module/relay or wiring, not the diverters. A Corsa wiring diagram for your exact year would be the best match since they changed systems over the years.

The Corsa 3/4 wire diverters work the same way, just use different methods to accomplish it

When triggered diverter gets full voltage and high current to pull it in. Once fully energized the current is reduced because it doesn't need much to keep it there.

Can get into the wiring/control but the end result is the same
