I am tryining to replace the mech FP mounted on top of my water pump with an electric fuel pump. I understand the need for wiring to a pressure switch and a relay and think i have all the wiring info i need, but am not sure of a few things;
1. what would be a good recomended el FP, wht is min.\/max psi, min/max gpm
2. to wire to a oil pressure gage. (I S, P terminals) is there an exiting switch i can slave to or do i need to insall one. and can thisbe done on the water without draining oil?
Have some other quest but will wait to see if i get a relay - will welcome any input or points to similar threads- thanks

Hey @Rick Stephens show him your setup
Well, I have a pic of my motor, and I have achris's fancied up wiring diagram. I put those here.

Note, I use a 2 pole oil pressure switch since all it has to do is energize a relay.

5-6 pounds is all you need in fuel pressure. I used the Airtex E1103 fuel pump because I could plumb and mount it using factory Merc OEM parts, including a stainless fuel line to fit my carb.

Happy to assist if there is something useful on my end.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Doesn't the dash already have an oil pressure gauge,..??

If yer tryin' to mount one at/ on the motor, go mechanical, tee it into where yer puttin' the oil pressure switch,....

No need to drain the oil either way,....

Thanks Rick. So, everything in the diagram except the relay and pump should already be on the boat? Including the slave solenoid?
I'm having trouble finding a E1103 pump amazon says its discontinued and haven't found it anywhere else yet. ill keep looking but are there any other suggestions. thanks again -

The E1103 may have been superseded just search for "airtex marine fuel pump"

The 5-9 is a good pump but a bit higher then needed for the carb. Carbs like no more then 7 and work fine at 4 or 5. Might need a regulator
But wait till its installed it might be fine

how will i know if it needs a regulator and where would i find the right one.
However i may need to reorder anyway. the one i orderd never came. given that, would i be better with the e8251 2.5 to 4.5 psi vs the 5-9 for the E8337.
id like several opinions if possible - thanks

Might go with Carter P4594, its 6-8 psi and states no Reg required
Many places list it as Auto but others show its Marine rated
