Check this Ebay link on a 1997 Sylvan Pro Select 19feet Aluminum boat and trailer. Does any one know what happened with this boat?. Hurts to look at the pictures, hope no one was hurt or killed. :( Scary stuff.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997...ewItemQQcategoryZ63727QQitemZ4568291716QQrdZ1
That boat is about 30 miles away from me, I should go look at it. I could use the pedestal base, that's all that looks any good. We have quite a few alcohol boating deaths every year. I refuse to boat on some lakes around here because of the big boats, booze and inexpeirence.

There's a boat kind of like that but smaller on a river I like to go rafting in, the local sherif put it there as a warning after they draged it out of the river. Scares me to think I've rafted that river in a little toy raft that was leaking air...

I wonder if that was a boating accident on the water or if it had a large tree fall on it or something. This pair of untrained eyes is having a hard time trying to figure out how an accident on the water would cause that kind of damage across the front half of the boat AND the visible damage to both the main and kicker ourboards?

It doesn't really look like a front impact... definately something wrong with that boat though :)

Reckon he was trailering and it flipped.

The hull looks basically undamaged compared to the topsides.

Or ... judging by the position of the wheel, he was doing 60mph going astern, and it got pooped!

Looks to me like someone ran into him from the side. Look how the side of the boat has the most damage, but the front and rear look better.

Sure looks like a "rolled trailer" job to me. It went over on the left side, crushing it in, and then the top of the right gunwal hit, and tried to rip it away from the floor. No matter what, that's a lot of damage!

I was thinking trailer too, but the trailer itself is perfect at elast from the visible side. It would seem that the visible fender would have got a good whack. The trailer says Sylvan on it, so I'm betting that was the original trailer too.

I'm back to it being hit from the side like youmanjason suggested. Somebody bigger and fast juts plain ran over it. The only thing that doesn't make sense with that scenario is the helm. You think that would have more damage.

This looks like a tree or building collapse during a severe storm. If the boat had rolled, the motor likely would have broken free of its tilt mechanism but it is in-place. More than likely this was a building collapse as there doesn't seem to be any branches or leaves in the boat. The vertical tears and sort of "S" folds in the side skin also suggest severe downward pressure. A strike from the side by another larger boat would have simply folded both sides in the same direction and that's not evident -- at least in these pictures. There is no apparent below waterline hull damage so my guess is it was on a trailer. Don't think this was an "on-water" accident.

Or he left the dock forgetting to tie it down, and it blew off the trailer and flipped stem to stern due to wind, while he was doing 70mph and thinking he was safe.

Non-boating accident obviously... look, no damage to the lower bow. Bet the aluminum scrap is worth a few $$.

Looks like it was run over by a Fountain at top speed! I'm voting for a rollover as well.

Anyone care to guess what the final price will be?

$2000+

Is that a Mariner motor?
What size?

Whatever happened, it's a total loss. I wouldn't give a single penny for it. I wish I could see the motor, tho.

The only thing I see not hurt is the 6HP, and the trailer. Looks as though something fell on it.

Scrap yard would give me a few bucks for it. Not $500 though.

The motor's got plugs out too- don't look like there's a lot left salavageable. I doubt the 6hp is worth salvageing either-notice in one pic on the listing there's a steady stream of water running out of the hull and in the pic below there's quite a lot of water on the ground behind it so I suspect it's been fully submerged-hence the plugs out of the motor to drain it.

I agree with youmanjason-it looks to me like it's been hit from one side, probably while in the water-and by something an awful lot bigger than it. Look at the V-shape in this picture-looks like a keel has been over it.
