NEVER ever tow any kind of trailer with the cruise control as you just might find yourself going places you really don't want to be. You will loss a lot of control with it on if you are driving in rainy or wet weather as the wheels tend to break loose and lose traction and when they do get a grip LOOKOUT! you could end up anywhere with the trailer going into a tail wiping the tow vehicle skid. That was from my own experiance and did it ever scare the crap out me. Besides you will have a lot more contol of your speed if any kind of sudden movement occurse like pot holes, speed bumps loose stones etc you may encounter on the roadway. Just play it safe a drive without it on.

I say go for it. I use cruise control all the time with a boat/trailer.

use the cruise. If your car goes out of control,you're going too fast or you're simply a lousy driver.[turn off the cruise in slippery weather though,as has already been said]

I agree with boateric. I prefer to be in control and I think CC has the potential to make one complacent. I had a co-worker fall asleep with his CC on.....he hit a bridge abutment at 60mph and died.

With all respect ^^^^^ That's not conclusive as being caused by cruise control.

Please reread my previous post. ALL HEAVY-DUTY TRUCKS are sold with Cruise Control and they use it. There is even a fuel efficiency benefit on some models which encourage the driver to use cruise. Why if it is unsafe? Cruise reduces fatigue . . .

That has nothing to do with trailering though... Bad driving is bad driving... I've got an old 1 ton truck that has about half a turn of play in the steering. Driving this monster is a pain without cruise, its tough to concentrate on driving and throttle. Turn on the cruise, and it actually seems to make steering easier!

As far as cruise being more dangerous on rain, if you are in light rain and lose control, your driving sucks. If you are in heavy rain, yes, then you should turn off cruise.

Depends on the situation. Heading out of town on highway 2 or highway 16 (flat, straight, multi-lane highway)? Cruise is on. Driving through the BC interior (lots of hills, curves and congested single lane highway)? Cruise is off. Starts raining more than a sprinkle? Cruise goes off.

Manual for my F150 Supercab says DO NOT use cruise when towing, and be sure to push in the "towing button" on the shifter. Changes the computer program when towing a load.

Your's is a different year and conditions / requirements may differ.

I use cruise 500 miles all the way to Florida on interstate, no problem. Of course on a winding, hilly road where your speed would fluctuate a good bit, then turn off cruise. Cruise also helps maintain steady speed and avoid speeding tickets! Good Luck!

Wait a minute you can't use cruise on 95 in South Carolina!
