Great project! How will the paint hold up to the loading and unloading on the trailer? I have been thinking of painting mine but I trailer it everywhere.

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

Guys, all has been going well with me and my 'new' boat. UNTIL....yesterday. At wot I thought I may have hit something in the bay. I didnt think much of it. After pulling it from a great day on the water, I pulled the bungs and WOW I believe I had about 50lts of water in the hull. An examination of the hull found a chunk of the hull missing. A deep gouge about the size of three matchstix together. It's right into the glass, although I can't see that it goes through, it must be letting heaps of water in while moving. Just when it looks like your ontop of things.........

cheers

It can be surprising to learn how much water pressure is actually on the underside of the hull. It's not uncommon to find that, when water is put INTO the hull, nothing leaks out. But when underway, water leaks IN.

Don't allow the 'look' of the gouge to fool you, use compressed air to test it from underneath. IMO.

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

yeah, I will be repairing it tonight with fresh glass and epoxy. I have had the heater on the area all night and day. It's definatly letting water in there.

Aldo, you should have seen it fly yesterday out it PPB, a perfect amount of little chop to push it right to it's limits. Also, picked up a nice SS prop to suit.

cheers
