I got caught up in that post you guys are talking about. It did get a little heated, but there was some great information. There are some differences between marine and automotive electrical and fuel system components, but what exactly they are, I can name some but not all of them. However the important thing is that you are required by law to use marine approved components, and that is what we should be worrying about. Are these parts approved for use in my boat? If a non-marine electrical or fuel system part is used on a boat, and causes an explosion, you may be held liable. The insurance co may try and find any loophole that prevents them from paying for the damages. I cannot second guess the law, I just abide by it. For me, it is not worth risking that for a few $$. Just my $0.02, I like to cover my butt!
