Boy, talk about missing the point, I ask Bayliner for some dimensional drawings so I can design a hard top for my boat and this is what I get:

The Capri line of boats has never had a hard top designed for them.

Thank you,
Tammy

I am the new owner of 1985 Bayliner 1600 Capri Cuddy Cabin. I would like to replace the bimini top with a light weight permanent hard top. I am wondering if you can provice schematic drawings or blue print of the boat to aid me with designing a hard top for the cockpit.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter,

Mark Mullen

For your safety, I will not show this thread to my blonde wife - you can guess her name.

Carry on, gentlemen ...

I would reply back with;

Thank you Tammy

I do realize Bayliner has never had a factory hard top designed for their Capri line of boats. I am wanting to be the first person to design one for my personal use. Sooooo, can you provide a schematic drawing which includes structural dimensions of the BOAT to aid me in my design and construction of a hard top for my boat.

Probably more like, "I'll have to forward this to the engineering dept."

Then it'll sit for a month or so.

Then engineering would answer, "You have this boat sitting there, right? Ever hear of a measuring tape!"

Sad, but highly possible :p

Hopefully the engineering department do not answer "hard to supply as every one is different" !!!

They're not going to give you their blueprints. Nobody is going to give you their blueprints. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. It kinda falls under the category "trade secret". You want em, you measure em. Do you think MerCruiser is going to send Clymer a copy of their service manuals out of the kindness of their hearts? Yah, Right! :rolleyes:

With Tammy being in the customer service department, chances are she has never seen a boat.

I was on the phone with a "tech support" guy at a place where I was purchasing a fairly expensive set of diamond cup wheels; it quickly became apparent that I knew much more about the tools than he did.
