Attached are the photos from the water tube I removed while replacing my upper of my alpha one gen 1.

Both rubber grommets are torn or deformed. Also the plastic tube is clearly melted. What parts do I need to replace these?

Ayuh,... Without lookin', I think you'll need to spec the individual parts, I don't think there's any sorta Kit,...

The plastic tube might come in the Full water pump impeller, 'n housin' Kit,... possibly the grommets too,...

Looks burnt up from a lack of water flow,...

so I might as well replace my new impeller again then considering it looks like I cannot order individual parts.

Re: damaged water tube

I just ordered and received a full water pump kit - the plastic tube comes with the kit, and the rubber grommet is already installed in the upper pump housing. The top grommet is not included, (the one in the water pocket cover). I believe the part number for that individual grommet is 26-36557 if that helps. the plastic tube is there simply to help the copper pipe get inserted in the pump when installing the lower. It serves no other purpose otherwise.

Could someone provide the part number for a impeller kit including the housing?

This is a first gen Alpha, correct? I believe the part number is 46-96148A8. Here's where I bought my kit. They have the kit without the base, but with the top and impeller and all the misc for only $25.

The kits I bought at Napa had the plastic tube and grommet and they were not the full housing kit, just the impeller replacement kit. The Sierra part I used is 18-3217. Napa uses the same part numbers. NOTE: That does NOT include the housing but the tube and grommet.

2014-02-28 16.49.55.jpgAfter looking inside the upper it looks like the seal is still there. I am not sure what this 3rd seal is.. (the seal on the left in the 2nd picture)

Hard to tell. How long have you had this boat, and are you the one who has serviced it? Could be left over from earlier use... but there is only one seal in the pump and one seal in the top pocket cover.

only had the boat for about a year. I did the impeller 6 months ago. I don't recall any issues.

Re: damaged water tube

Unless someone else chimes in, I haven't heard of anyone not using the tube. It does serve its purpose during reassembly.

Also does a good job of indicating if you've had an overheat condition that may need further investigation/repair (like water pocket cover damage, shudder damage) based on the amount of "melt" of the tube.

Re: damaged water tube

Its hard to believe that enough water to cool my v6 comes from this tiny copper tube..

Re: damaged water tube

so the plastic tube does not have to be used?

I didn't say that... I simply pointed out its only purpose is to help line up and install the copper pipe. Hard to install without it! I point that out because you do not necessarily need a nice clean plastic tube. As pointed out, it does serve as a "tell tale" for an overheat situation.

Good thing I replaced the bottom cover looks like when i got the kit last time I over looked the fact that the bottom was a tad bit melted also. Got the whole pump replaced and out drive back together. Now I just need to install new trim sensors and re-attach the water intake tube to the bell housing. Also got the replacement exhaust "tube" instead of the bellow.

Re: damaged water tube

Looks like you already did the water pump, but I did want to respond to this in case someone searches the forum for just this same issue. The kit you quote above (ending in 20) is the CORRECT kit for Alpha One Gen 1. A previous poster mentioned the same Sierra kit ending in 17

The kits I bought at Napa had the plastic tube and grommet and they were not the full housing kit, just the impeller replacement kit. The Sierra part I used is 18-3217. Napa uses the same part numbers. NOTE: That does NOT include the housing but the tube and grommet.

Which is the correct kit for what is termed as "Pre Alpha" R/MR drive. The parts list is IDENTICAL EXCEPT for the water pump base. That is the difference in the two kits, and the part is not interchangeable. Learn from my mistake. I ordered the 18-3217 kit, and when the pump base wouldn't fit I went back to where I ordered it from and found my mistake.
