Re: Deadliest Catch

You must be watching a re-run.
They don't come on till Tuesdays.
I tape them all along with Axe Men and the Ice Road Trucker shows.

Yeah, I was watching a re-run, they've been playing a lot of re-runs recently because of the start of the 4th season. Did anyone else see that they are making a video game out of it? I was supposed to come out this spring, but i'm not sure if thats gonna happen. It is supposed to come our for Xbox 360 and PC, too bad I have a PS3 :(

DM, that is not new, that was on last season.
Don't know if it's the deadliest, but it's right up there at the top.

I heard on T.V. that 40+ men died that year in the industry. Thats gotta be a huge percentage of injuries and deaths compaired to most jobs.

I have read that logging (Ax Men) is the highest year after year. Did anyone see the bag of flour trick on "Best of DC" night before? Funniest thing I ever saw.:D

Great show to watch. Obviously there has to be editing done to dramatise it. That is the same even with the most mundsane of shows.
You have to admire those folk out there.I would not do that job. For those of you that are putting it down I dont think the guy disappearing overboard or the bodies and empty survival suits floating around were fake.
Or am I mistaken ???

The pipe trick is from last year. This year they removed the pot and tied a whole pickup truck.

Yes Kenny and those guys are small percentage of all the other injuries and deaths from other ships and crews that are not on the show.

Elaborate a bit on that. I saw the end of the episode, where they were moving the truck around on the deck, and I was quite confused as to why on earth there was a pickup truck on the deck.:confused:

Mike whats yours???

and bassboy.. i forgot who they did it to exactly (i think phil) but the truck was on the dock so they took it and once they found one of his pots they pulled it up. untied the pot. tied the truck to the bouys and launched it.. well they got it and found at thtat the pulleys they use to pull up the pots can also pull a full size truck

Re: Deadliest Catch

From the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2006-2007:

Deadliest jobs - Deaths per 100,000 workers:
1. Fishers & Fishing Workers = 143 Total deaths, 51
2. Pilots & Flight Engineers - 88 Total deaths, 101
3. Loggers - 82 Total deaths, 64
4. Iron & Steel Workers - 61 Total Deaths, 36
5. Refuse & Recyclable Materials Collectors - 42 Total Deaths, 38
6. Farmers & Ranchers - 38 Total Deaths, 291
7. Electrical Power Line Workers - 35 Total Deaths, 38
8. Roofers - 34 Total Deaths, 82
9. Drivers - 27 Total Deaths, 940
10. Agricultural Workers - 22 Total Deaths, 158

Drivers (Truck & Salesmen) has the highest TOTAL deaths, but when based off of the total number of workers fishing has everything beat.
