Re: Decarb
I use the Mercury Power Tune. The way that I do it ( which may or may not be right ) is put my motor in a tank and start it, let it get warmed up, open it up to as fast as it will go in neutral, (which is about half throttle) and spray that stuff in until the motor almost dies, and then let off. I do this until I have used about a quarter of a can. After that I let it run until all the nasty smoke is gone. Then I pull the plugs and pump the cylinders full of it and let it sit for about 15 minutes while the engine is warm, pull the plugs back out and pull the rope and spin it over. Then I put the plugs back in and start it back up until it runs clean again, then I replace plugs with new ones. This might be over kill, but my 1974 Merc 20 HP runs just as good as an brand new one and starts on one pull. Like I said, this might not be the right way to do it, but it has worked very well for me.
