Now there you go again Haut; talking from a position of RCI and assumption; not knowledge.
I was not working in the Kuwait oil fields. Granted, I was there 2 days after the "Gulf War" ended as an "Advisor" of and for the U. S. DOC.
I lived and worked primarily in Saudi Arabia, traveling extensively throughout the Middle East. During that time I had the opportunity to sit with a number high-ranking members of the Royal family and their advisors. In addition, I was privvy to discussions including such luminaries as Cheney, Prince Bandar and Crown Prince Abdulazziz.
My "knowledge" of the area and mindset of the peoples within is derived from 1st-hand experience and exposure.
So, perhaps, I have a bit of an edge in this topic.
Perhaps not.
But, certainly more than most.
