Re: DHADLEY

Good deal on the Holley pump. Since youre using it to feed the fuel pump you can turn up the pressure a little. The engines fuel pump will act as a regulator to the carbs.

I would run the needle and seats from a crossflow carb. They have a larger inlet hole and can fill the carbs quicker at higher rpms.

Thats a good filter too. Just use straight fittings -- no 90's.

Some of the guys have fooled around with Split Fires and other gimmic plugs. It really never worked out. The motor ran the same at best and burned pistons at worst.

Does the budget allow for some trick pieces from Monty Racing?

DO YOU HAVE A PART #'s ?

I TRY TO BE IN CONTACT WITH GORDON(MONTY RACING), BUT IT'S IMPOSSIBLE . ALWAYS I CALLED, THE ANSWERING MACHINE IS THERE !!!!!.
ALSO, I WOULD LIKE TO GET A PORTED REED CAGES OR MODIFY MY STOCK ONES.

I JUST INCREASE MY TIMING TO 18 .

THANKS A LOT !!!

DON

Yo CHICHO,
You don' really need much pressure from the pump to the carbs, you need volume and that Holley blue will pump more then enough fuel at 2-3psi.

c/6
Hooty

Re: DHADLEY

The float level is pretty critical. We want as much fuel in the bowl as possible without flooding over. Too little fuel and it will slosh to the back of the chamber creating a split second of hesitation on takeoff. That should be fairly minimal on a 20' boat. The stock float level is a very good place to start.

Yes, the small clip keeps the needle connected to the float.

Re: DHADLEY

THANKS. BUT THE HEAD OF THE NEEDLE FROM A V4 CROSSFLOW (1988) IS DIFFERENT FROM A LOOPER V4,AND CAN'T FIX THE CLIP FROM THEM.
THAT'S WHY I'M ASKING IF I CAN INSTALL THE NEEDLE WHITHOUT THE CLIP ON LOOPER V4's ( using the the needle & seat from 1988 CrossFlow).

DON

Re: DHADLEY

Sorry Don, I didnt mean to leave you hanging -- I had to go to Daytona for a few days.

If the retaining clip didnt come in the kit you can order some (603145) from the dealer. To be honest, I thought they were all alike. But anyway, you can assemble it without the clip but I would prefer to have one.

Re: DHADLEY

Bike Week was interesting but I would rather have been keeping up with my stuff.

Anyway, yes -- dry stacking is in the program. When you get ready, pull the powerhead and the lower unit and I'll walk you thru it. A factory manual is a good idea since it has the water flow chart. That will come in handy.

I havent located the manifold yet. It may be over at the shop where we built the Formula II motor. I'll keep looking.
