Re: did I suck something up to stall out ????
so little, Sorry for the mix up. I will start over, and thank you so much for sticking with me. I took my boat out last week and it had a little sputtering in idle when we first pushed off. I gave it some gas and i plained up nicely with no spudering. I then slowed it back down to idle and no problems. I took the boat in the back waters in about 4 foot of water to castnet some bunker shad, that was the first time the boat stalled out. i figured we might have hit bottom or something so i raised the engine and started the boat again. it sounded like it was struggling and then it shut off. I tried to start it back up, and it kept trying to start but the flywheel would only turn about half way. i let the starter rest for about 4 minutes that gave it a couple more trys (no luck) then all of the sudden with my last try it kicked over and 3 seconds later it shut back off. I check everything out and then gave it another shot, but no luck. so we ended up throwing the anchor in and out pulling us closer to the dock until we had her on the trailer. I tried to start it back up when i got to the dock. I hooked up the mickey mouse ears gave turned the water on slightly and let the water run for a few minutes. Then gave it a try, by this time the battery was dead. I was disappointed because i know the engine needed a proper flushing. So i got up early the next day and charged the batteries (2) and brought them back home. I tried to start the boat with the key/choke method.. it seemed that the started was not up to the job so i tried to do it by rope. and got no where. so i tried both at the same time, and it worked and ran nicely for about 20 seconds. i was able to see a solid stream of water come out of the pisser. the water was clear and free of sut/dirt. the engine started to spuder and then quit. i tried a few more times with the method i was doning (the key and rope and the same time) method and on my final atempt the flywheel locked up to where it would not turn anymore. Since then i tried to take the sparkplugs out and turn the fly wheel both by rope/key/and hand. No luck there. i have not taken the lower unit off yet because i am worried that i will get over my head. Well the prop spins in neautral freely. i dont know what the next step is, however i was doing some more reserch on the engine and it is a 1982 Evinrude V4. if i can answer anymore questions please let me know and thank you again for all of the help. Also i mixed the gas up 50:1 like the manual said. thank you guys for all of the help.
