I used 1/2 inch. It was on sale or something and I got it cheaper but it was about 30 bucks a sheet

Yes, IF you want to have 1" stringers, which IMHO is a good idea, and you would need Three layers to get the 1 1/2" needed for the Transom. If you use it for the deck then, as OOPS suggested you might want to build a ski locker and add a bulk head to take the "Spring" out of the deck if use 1/2". But...If you put foam under the deck and bring it up level with the bottom of the deck then 1/2" will be absolutely perfect for your deck. Again, I would go with the arauco plywood. Much better quality than the ext grade fir.

WoodFord Plywood distributors in Lakeland, carries Plywood underlayment. It is really good stuff for making Transoms, Decks and Stringers. 100% waterproof glue. Several iBoaters have used it in there rebuilds and were very happy with their results. It is reasonably priced as well and has very few voids in the plys.

that was my other question. i have three different pieces on my transom. each is 1/2" = 1 1/2". do i have to add three different pieces again? or can i use two 3/4"? as soon as i have a chance ill upload the video so you can see. i want it sturdy enough to handle my johnson 70 and hopefully a kicker motor.

You could do 2 sheets 3/4" for your transom... And you could use 3/4 for you stringers, but like WOG said, 1" stringers is fine too...

It appears your transom is flat so using two 3/4" pieces or 3-1/2" pieces does'nt really matter. It will be more than strong enough to handle a 70 hp. Adding a kicker should not be an issue either. You will have to take care to make sure the thickness stays the same so the top cap and splashwell will fit back over it properly.

Ive been thinking about converting the boat into a center console. I was wondering what exactly I would need to do. I've read skankybeasts web page and it doesn't look that complicated. Ive been searching for a center console hull but Lot of them look busted and others Are just too expensive.

So long as it fits, I don't see why not.

The console itself isn't very heavy, but I would imagine you'd beef up that part of the deck so that you can fasten the console down like you do with your seat bases... maybe a dd a bulkhead close to it... stingers too...

There are a few console blanks out there... some come with a wheel and switches and stuff, but I'd go with the blank and customize it.

If it were me, I'd probably build a mold and 'glass it myself.

Re: DIY-1972 thunderbird shawnee tri-hull boat restoration-(after shop repair gone wr

That's really hard to do. But IMHO a good starting guess-timate is...

10 yds of 1.5 oz CSM
10 yds of 1708 Biax
Gallon of Cabosil
1/2 lb of Chopped 1/4" fibers
Bubble roller
Mixing bowls
etc....
i know its a guesstimate but can you explain how you got to these numbers? i passed by another boat repair shop(to see if materials were cheaper than website) and their saying about $1200 w/o cabosil, chopped fibers, roller.
how can it be such a huge difference?

Us composites is the best place to order fiberglass supplies from IMO.
Cabosil and chopped fibers and rollers are all cheap.

i think im referring to the yds, gallons of resin, etc.

my boat dimensions are 15'3" long, 5"11" width, transom height 30"
stringers are 11' 11.5'' L x 3/4 W x 6.5" H, except center keel stringer which is 1" W x 4.25 H x 11' 11.5" L
floor is 55.5' W and about 12' L(forgot to measure)

You have the dimensions of everyting. Pretty simple to figure what you'll need. Basically 16' long by 6' wide. Ok You can get Mat and Cloth in 50" widths soo.... A yard is 36" soo... 2 yards to go across the boat a@ 50" long. Need to do this 4 times soo.. thats 8 yds but you have tapers etc. so 5- 6 yds will give you one layer for the deck. Based on this you will prolly need 15 yds of mat just for the deck. You can figure the rest. Again, I'm guessin but I thinik I was off a bit originally. With Deck Transom and Stringers you're gunna need closer to 15-20 yds of CSM . Resin wets out about 4yds of mat and or 1708 cloth so 10 gallons will be close to what you need IF you don't have to much waste, and you always have some.
