Re: Dodge Factory Receiver Hitch almost fell off!!
I wouldnt trash that hitch, just have it welded to the frame. My buddy had the same problem with a Dodge 1500 and he welded it to the frame and had no more problems.
I have had Dodges for company vehicles now for the last 3. They are absolute junk. Last one we put 3 transmissions in it in 100k, brake problems, engine knocks, shoddy electrical. This new one has allready been back to the dealer 3 times for electrical problems and it is only 3 months old, and has 8500 miles. My buddy with the 1500 I mentioned above had to have the engine rebuilt under warranty twice and the tranny once. My mother in law had a Chrysler LHS and she put more miles on the rental in the first 2 years than she did on her LHS. Sister had a Sebring, I cant even begin to tell you all the problems she had under warranty. She dumped that junker before it even got to the warranty end.
My Dad has a Lincoln Navigator Mark LT(the pickup version) and it has a very hard time towing our boat. My wife didnt want a large vehicle either, so we have a Trailblazer V8 EXT and it tows like a dream and 85k later it has not had any issues. Only thing we have done to it have been synthetic oil changes every 5k.
No idea what we are going to get next since GM has chosen to stop making a medium SUV that can tow 7300lbs. I guess we will keep this forever and buy the wife a Porsche or something next. It has been the best tow vehicle we have ever owned, hands down.
