My fuse attached to the alternator has bad corrosion I could not even disconnect it from the lead. This situation about the fuse - can it degrade ignition?

It can create a high resistance short which then would have a voltage drop across it reducing voltage available for the ignition so yes it can cause ignition problems.

Ok - time to change. Another $55 out the door.

Truthfully, I think you are throwing away parts that don't need replaced.
Reading your other post, you just don't seem to know how to start a carbed engine.
Also, there is no fuse on the alternator, so what are you wanting to change?

don, maybe he meant the starter, it sometimes had that block between the battery feed and system feed.

I meant the corroded fuse on the the starter, not the alternator. So are you saying the exterior corrosion will not degrade ignition?

About starting the engine, I was told not to prime. Only after long storage. If you know otherwise, I am listening. I have an electric fuel pump.

Thanks for covering, Doctur. There is no fuse on the alternator. I always get these 2 terms mixedup. It is that fuse on the starter where the positive cable from the battery wire is hooked connected.

If you can't remember the difference between a starter and an alternator, then you shouldn't even be messing with an engine.
Sorry, just a personal opinion.

Your opinion is well received. And I have read your posts and have respect for your wholesome knowledge. I have in fact printed some of them. I know the difference between these 2 parts, just mixing up the terminology. Hey - you did not earn the title Captain if you did not deserve it. And you know what? I am still messing up with my engine. And I have more questions to come coz I really like boating. I hope you will contnue to assist.

I haven't read any of your other threads, so please tell me which engine, HP, year, ect. The only engines that shouldn't need to be primed before a cold start are fuel injecteds.

Chris.........
