thanks guys. took it out today and it ran like a champ! I brought it home, flushed it out with fresh water, then unplugged the gas line and ran it until it died. I also put sta-bil in the gas today. How long do you flush your motors when you go in salt water?

Depends if you are using the flushing plug or muffs. The direct connection to the plug can dump a lot more water, assuming you have a lot of water coming through the hose, and if you have the inlet strainer taped off with duct tape, and so can flush a little faster. Probably 5 or 10 minutes on muffs is plenty. That's long enough to idle the carb dry, BTW.

I just stick it in a garbage can full of fresh water with a hose stuck in there letting the water overflow and the motor **** off the the side. Is this ok?
