Re: Dont laugh......But I really need you guys to help me
All done fella's. Tested boat this afternoon and all is well. Motor issue came back this morning when I fired it up so I replaced the plusg and issue did not come back.
The water leak was because of hole in gimbal housing. I removed the sterndrive and there it was in the upper corner. About a golf ball size hole. So the water was coming in from up there and I guess coming down the void to make it appear as though it was coming from the lower part. Anyways I filled the hole in and put it all back together. Then did some testing and found water was also coming in at the very top of the gimbal housing just above where the steering is? I used silicone and filled that gap or seal in. Funny thing is when I took cover off up top where steering knuckle or whatever that is is I saw no sign of any sealer or silicone being there before? Did they not seal these things up all the way?
I hit the water a bit ago and not a drop of water. I even ran boat in reverse and not a drop. Nice.......... Thanks for the help guys. I still have no idea if I have transom rot but I found issue and fix leak or leaks i should say. For now I'm happy. Think I will still boat to shop and have them once over it to be sure. Atleast right now I wont be sinking
